Aluminium is the most abundant metal found on earth yet, due to the enormous amount of electrical energy required to reduce Bauxite ore to pure aluminium, it was not until the early 1900s that this light (three times lighter than iron), strong and durable metal was successfully manufactured. All our items are electrostatically powder coated with polyester paints and baked in our modern ovens. Most popular colours are dark green, black, white, stone white, lichen (moorland green) and bronze but others are available on request.
Cornish Beds are made with the very best materials including heavy duty cast brass finials and top caps, durable powder coated finishes, antiqued and lacquered brassware and are complemented with superbly supportive and robust bed bases. Lesser quality metal beds will use thinner cheaper sections of metal, and are likely to use thin spun metal finishes, and without the proper knuckle joint can be flimsy. Cornish beds are built to last and our longstanding heritage confirms their everlasting appeal.
The powder coating process involves the coating to be statically charged through the use of a special spray gun, allowing the coating to stick to your metallic object. From here the part is then heated in an oven which allows the powder to melt and affix to the surface. This process is a great way to produce a long-lasting finish to your metallic objects and has proved extremely reliable.
The Anochrome Group provides expert powder coating solutions to clients around the world. Not only do powder coatings offer excellent resistance to corrosion, abrasion, impact and heat, they are also a highly attractive and durable finish. Powder coating is a method of coating a part in a polymer powder using directional spray equipment. The big difference between powder coating and wet spraying is that the wet spray principle requires a carrier or solvent to allow the material to be successfully atomised and transferred from gun to substrate.

Powder coating is applied using a free-flowing dry powder. Applied using electrostatic means and then cured under immense heat, the particles form a thick, protective skin with minimal differences between horizontal and vertical surfaces. This method emits very little volatile organic compounds and even allows for colour blending to create unique special effects in a single layer. The versatility and durability of powder coating mean it is perfect for all applications and we have been lucky enough to work on a wide range of components such as helicopter parts, plane parts, submarine parts, rollercoaster parts, full stock car chassis, vintage bikes and train components.
