Barkers' finishing service allows for the customisation of steel products in ways which strengthen, improve lifespan and enhance appearance and performance. Our galvanizing and powder coating services give you total control over the finish and colour of your product - ensuring that it's entirely fit-for-purpose. Galvanization is an additional metal treatment we offer here on-site that significantly increases the strength of metal whilst resulting in 40-year lifespans and resistance tocorrosion. Powder coating provides the most economical, longest lasting and most colour-durable paint finish on metal, and is far more resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, and wearing than other finishes.

Wilfred Barker established W. H. Barkers and Sons. It began life by engineering equipment for the mines and coal fields that had sprung up following the Industrial Revolution. Tipplers, coal breakers, feeder retarders, turntables, decking plant and vibrator screens were commonly manufactured products. As Barkers' mining products enabled coal supply - the primary energy source at the time - we were deemed a protected industry during WWII. As such, many employees were not drafted and stayed on at Barkers to help Britain keep its lights on and support the war effort from home.

Barkers holds prestigious and sought-after accreditations from several national and international bodies, regulators and authorities. The LPCB is the leading international, government-recognized certification body for security and fire protection. All Barkers products are accredited to these rigorous standards, ensuring safety for people, assets and profits. PAS 68 is the UK impact test standard for rating hostile vehicle mitigation and is overseen by the British Standards Institution (BSI). Our accreditation guarantees that products meet the technical specification required to handle significant impact and vehicular threat.
