HFS is a local independent registered charity that provides affordable reused furniture, helps low-income households to furnish their homes, collects surplus furniture and appliances for reuse, and provides practical opportunities for people to gain skills, experience and confidence.
We collect unwanted but reusable furniture & appliances, preventing them from going to waste in landfill. We also stock paint for decorating and other household items. Our training department provides work-based and craft skills opportunities. HFS is a registered charity and social enterprise. We do not make a profit from our services in the community. All funds raised help us to keep the service running, provide training for people who are out of work and invest in expanding and improving our services.
Learn how to use tools safely, sand down, repair and restore a small piece of furniture from our store to take home. Ask our expert all your furniture fixing questions! Boost your skills and confidence, meet new people, enjoy a friendly and supportive group. If you receive a means-tested benefit, your course fees are waived and we just ask that you pay 5 returnable deposit to book a space. Subscribe to our mailing list to hear about upcoming courses and workshops first - we usually send one email a month and we won't pass your details on to anyone else.
The HFS Workshop On Wheels is a van-based workshop that enables us to provide practical pop-up training opportunities in the community. Our sessions cover DIY skills, repairs, crafts and woodwork. This year, funding from the Chalk Cliffs Trust and Sussex Masons Foundation is helping us provide sessions at women's refuges. The women tell us that the sessions don't just help them learn practical skills that make them feel more confident in their ability to maintain their own home when they move on, they also learn how to make items and decorate their new home to make it feel safe and comfortable for themselves and their children.
We'll collect your good quality reusable furniture from your home or office during a designated time-slot. Contact us to book a free collection. We need all kinds of household furniture: wardrobes, chests of drawers, sofas, beds, coffee tables. We also take electrical goods including cookers, fridges, freezers, washing machines and driers, heaters. All items must be in working order. Our office furniture department needs modern office furniture in good condition; swivel chairs are especially welcome.
Our Bexhill site includes an affordable office furniture warehouse with stacks of great quality reused desks, pedestals, filing cabinets and chairs.
Our aim is to provide a hassle-free, comprehensive clearance service that is socially and environmentally responsible. Our staff and trainees will clear every item in the property for you, or leave selected items as requested. Any reusable furniture and electrical appliances will help low income households through our stores. We recycle as much as we can, disposing of any remaining goods responsibly. The house clearance service helps low income households in Hastings and Rother, and raises funds for HFS, while also providing great work experience for our trainees.
HFS stores in Hastings and Bexhill are full of affordable, pre-loved furniture looking for a home, also electrical appliances, TVs and even paint. We also have a huge Office Furniture Department.
