Maltech are currently engaged with a Client providing structural engineering consultancy services for an exciting project to renovate and convert the structural remains of a windmill into a commercial dwelling. Plans are progressing to build the tower up to cap level and to install the sails, the rotating cap and fantail. Private Domestic Renovation Thurlstone, South Yorkshire What was a very derelict weavers' house, is now undergoing restoration to create a desirable family home. Having completed the structural survey of the property, maltech was required to carry out the timber engineering.
We were approached by two brothers with a planto relocatewith their families to a North Yorkshire village. We initially provided a structural survey of a number of derelict barns at the site. We worked alongside London based Architect, Thomas and Spiers, who carried out preliminary planning designs. Maltech is currently carrying out phased consulting engineering servicesof a rather geographically challengingsite on the North Yorkshire coast. A topographical survey of the site has been produced, deep boreholes excavated to assess ground conditions and the results analysed.
Norton Grove Industrial Estate Client : LGPS Designed by maltech to accommodate an existing EOT (Electric Overhead Travelling) Crane, this building was maximised to fit the site. For maltech, this project is their first, full industrial design in 8 years, following a fall in this type of work due to the recession. We were approached at the beginning of this year by a local developer in North Yorkshire to design an economical, steel building to be used as a cold store, which included the design of pad foundations, rc slab and the specification of SUDS drainage system. Over the past couple of years, we have had the pleasure of producing steel calculations for factory units for a well established, family run, stone masonry business, located in East Yorkshire. Previously, this central building served as a solicitors' office before remaining empty and for sale for some time. Windmills in Howardian Hills and Filey Client: local builder and Francis Johnson & Partners We were called in by a local builder, to look at the stability of a proposed roof to a windmill conversion in the Howardian Hills.
