From pruning to planting, from harvesting to hedge laying, our experience is gained from working in over 200 domestic and commercial gardens across Oxfordshire. Members of the National Association of Chimney Sweeps, we offer a comprehensive Chimney Sweeping service.
Oxford Edens is a gardening business whose ethos is based upon the understanding that gardens evolve, but their evolution can be moulded with a healthy dose of thought and planning. Our gardeners are qualified by both study and experience and our service is built around the desire to continuously exceed clients' expectations. Whatever your requirements and budget, Oxford Edens strive to provide a quality service, second to none.
Oxford Edens offers a garden design service, fuelled by the experience of working in hundreds of Oxfordshire gardens, complimented with National Design Academy training in professional garden design. We spend time getting to understand exactly what you require and expect from your garden and what you like and dislike. Careful consideration is paid to the soil type in your garden and, with a wealth of plant knowledge, we will provide planting plans that will look good for many years to come. We will present you with realistic designs to suit your budget.
Gavin is trained by the Dry Stone Walling Assocation and holds a Lantra Awards Level 1 certificate in dry stone walling. He can build a wall from scratch as a feature in your garden or repair a wall you already have.
One of the most important tasks undertaken in any garden is pruning, be it renewal pruning, pinch pruning, pruning to stimulate flowering or vegetative growth, or stem or tip pruning of fruit trees. Making good clean cuts, knowing why you are making them (including the removal of dead or diseased stems) and using the correct tools which are clean and sharp is paramount. Pruning the wrong way can encourage disease or can stimulate vigorous or dense growth where it is not wanted. The difference between pruning and deadheading is important and something that is not always clear in people's minds.
You should also consider when to plant, spraying to minimise competition from neighbouring plants, the size and type of hedge to plant, from bare-root Carpinus betulus (Hornbeam) to potted Fagus sylvatica (Beech) and how much you may require in terms of fertilisers and mulch. We can help with all these decisions and manage the whole process from selecting and planting your stock to maintaining it in the future, including hedge trimming.
This means that we will agree with you exactly what your gardening requirements are throughout the year in order to make the most of your garden and keep it looking at it's best. We will agree what needs doing and when, how often we will visit and the duration of these visits.
Many lawns are riddled with moss, as drainage on the heavy clay soils in parts of Oxfordshire can be a problem. For some people this isn't a big issue, as they don't want to face the upheaval of digging the lawn up, addressing the drainage issues and then re-seeding or turfing. However, the best decision is always made when the problem is assessed by a professional and the pros and cons weighed up together. Generally, the cost of rectifying these problems or simply starting again with your lawn is far outweighed by the resulting benefits.
Nothing screems summer better than a fullsome, colour-heavy hanging basket. Although availability in garden centres is good, it is arguably much more satisfying to have them made up and the result is infinitely better when you pick colours to match your environment. This can include corporate colours and we would be delighted to make yours up for you to ensure you stand out. We will also refill your baskets as and when the seasons change to give you all round colour. We will pick them up, replant them and return them to you in a couple of days.
Many clients don't require the services of a garden designer but they do want professional advice on planting schemes or how to develop an herbaceous border, or the best plants to purchase to achieve colour through the winter. This is exactly the type of client that Oxford Edens can assist, and our services range from developing planting plans through to assisting with shopping trips and undertaking the planting and maintenance of whatever you choose to buy.
We all know people who could do with some help in the garden but never get round to it. May be you have bought someone a tree for a special occasion and want to get someone to plant it and advise how to care for the tree ongoing. Perhaps you know someone who has just moved into a new home and would like some design ideas and advice? We will send you a gift voucher printed on Oxford Edens headed paper for you to give as a gift. Let us know how much you would like to spend or how many hours worth of gardening you would like to buy.
Still a few left in some colour schemes
