The business was established in 1964, by James and Ann Kidd, and is currently run by James and his four children. Although established in 1964, plants have been grown on the site since the 1920's; at this time the focus was the wholesale production of tomatoes and chrysanthemums for the markets. This developed into bedding plants production and the business slowly became solely retail supply with an ever widening range of plants on offer. The garden centre is split into retail display areas, and those for production.
Heaton Park Garden Centre is an old fashioned, traditional Garden Centre which concentrates on selling home grown plants from our own nurseries. Set within the historic grounds of the world famous Heaton Park, you can relax within the gardens which were planted over 100 years ago. The Horticultural Centre was established within the 18th century walled garden that once supplied fruit and vegetables for the whole estate.
Our Garden Centre section at Lymefield is open to the public in accordance with social distancing. Lots of our products are available online but all of them can be found in store, 7 days a week. Orders can be collected at Lymefield using safe social distancing practices or for large orders we will deliver to you!

IMPORTANT: From Wed 29th October, we'll be closing at 4pm to reflect the change in daylight hours. The garden centre will open from Tuesday-Sunday 10am-4pm in December, until Friday 18th. Welcome to Ridgeway Nurseries, a garden centre in Timperley, Cheshire. We are a family-run, long established nursery supplying hanging baskets, bedding plants, shrubs, trees, terracotta pots, herbs etc and, most importantly, friendly, knowledgeable advice on what to choose and how to care for your plants. We are celebrated for our hanging baskets & planters, pre-planted, designed to order or re-filled. Our garden centre is independent and family run and not a member of any buying group or part of any garden centre chain. Our product ranges change throughout the year.
