Love this place we call in at least once a week food always plentiful and tasty however today's visit left a bitter taste in my mouth. We ordered coffee and cakes, but cakes from the farm shop, one was priced at 2.95 and the other 1.85. On the bill the cakes were marked at 3.45 each, so questioned this increase and was told by an older lady presumably the manager we had to pay the extra for eating them in the cafe. Now most people would say that there should be a mark up for the privilege, but i have visited 4 times in the last 2 weeks and done exactly the same thing and was charged the price marked up in shop. The lady in question was quite rude and its such a shame has this puts me off going again.
Love this place it's a little gem, we are regular visitors. The farm shop/deli/ butchers (where they actually know the provenance of the meat) are all fab, great produce- some organic, in the rest of the shop too. Got all our plants there this year & they're thriving. We regularly eat in the tea rooms where there are fab choices of home made food. We had booked for afternoon tea yesterday for a birthday treat, & as usual weren't disappointed, we had to box half the cakes up & bring them home to enjoy later on. I have visited here since the early days & observed the business expand & go from strength to strength, I think that's due to the personal touch. Keep up the good work Lymefield, &, in the immortal words of Arnie."we'll be back."
I visited the cafe and shop yesterday with my mum. The last time I visited was probably 10 years ago and the cafe has definitely changed! The farm shop is the best in the area too. We shared a scone and I had a green tea, mum had an earl grey. They staff were lovely and so was the scone, crumbly just how it should be and with raisins! I would just like to say, with the farm shop next door and all the lovely produce I was sad that you didn't offer any of the nice jams to go with the scone, then it would have been perfect! Also you had some loose leaf tea, which I bought to take home, but it would even better if you sold that in the cafe. That way customers are trying the products, maybe they'll like it and go and buy some afterwards As I said, I just think little things like that will make the experience that much better than it already is Thank you, we will be back soon!
