Welcome to our site and thank you for your interest. My name is Neil Ryan and I have been Managing Director of PTG Treatments since 2002. We have been protecting wood since 1995, although the roots of the company go back 50 years to the days of Phoenix Timber Group, one of the first large importers of timber in the UK. Some think it is a crime to cut down trees but as my predecessor once commented "if we didn't cut down trees, we would be overrun with them". I agree but also like to concentrate of the positive benefits of using timber as the most environmentally sustainable building material we have.
Wood is a natural and sustainable construction material that has been used for thousands of years. Growing trees has a beneficial impact on the environment by 'locking up' CO2. If there is a use for the timber produced, more trees will be planted and more CO2 will be locked away meaning that using timber from sustainably managed forests, can actually be better than carbon neutral. Building a typical three bedroom house using a timber frame can save 3 Tonnes of CO2 helping to contribute towards our low carbon future and commitments.
