The UK and the European Union have agreed a wide-ranging free trade agreement, achieving widespread market access with no tariffs, quotas or customs duties now or in the future. The deal will provide the construction sector with much needed reassurance in respect of the cost and availability of products and materials in a time of high uncertainty. Recovery Insulation in 2018 has become a partner in the The University of Sheffield ReTraCE Project (Realising the Transition to the Circular Economy: Model, Methods and Applications).

Recovery Insulation Ltd. (RI) is a social enterprise/for profit share capitol company established in 2002 by Schools & Homes Energy Education Project/Solar-Active with support from the Sheffield Community Enterprise Development Unit (SCEDU). We have had financial support from Business Link South Yorkshire High Growth Start-up, Enventure Landfill Tax Credit Scheme/Parkwood Environmental Fund, UK KTA/TSB grants and others. As a social enterprise, we donate a proportion of our sales income to the education charity Schools & Homes Energy Education Project to conduct renewable energy and energy efficiency activities in educational establishments, youth groups and general public.

The Code for Sustainable Homes will influence the building of a future housing stock that both meets our needs and protects the environment. As you would be aware, the Code structure allows builders and contractors to gain credits to achieve the highest standards and on-going UK agenda for using low carbon construction materials e.g. Inno-Therm/Mtisse insulation. This will assist in the accreditation process for zero carbon homes with low energy costs for consumers. Abstract: The overall aim of research[1] in 2015 was to investigate the environmental impacts of the supply chains of Inno-Therm/Mtisse and a mineral wool insulation material.

Inno-Therm/Mtisse meets or exceeds quality and performance standards of conventional insulation products. Composition 85% recycled cotton. W / mK and density of 45 kg/m3 with a high coefficient of sound absorption (0.95) and acoustic fading is 20 dB. The insulation allows, besides its hydrothermal performance, to provide acoustic comfort and that even with a little thickness. Inno-Therm/Mtisse can supply acoustic rolls of 20 mm thickness x 1.2 m width with a density of 45 kg/m3 with a high coefficient of sound absorption (0.95) and acoustic fading is 20 dB.

With Inno-Therm/Mtisse, we have found a product that happily meets our objectives for Sheffield City Council's new school. Its supplied by a local social enterprise that creates employment opportunities and produces an environmentally friendly insulation. In fact Inno-Therm/Mtisse has slightly better thermal properties than alternative insulation, so we were able to reduce the timber stud sizes in the school building. In turn this offset some of the cost while still achieving very good U-values.

Inno-Therm/Mtisse isabrilliant, eco-friendly insulation product at a reasonable price, saving you time and labour costs in installation. It has all the required testing to meet UK and European standards. If you are looking to increase building fabric thermal efficiency while keeping to budget, being compliant to part L of the building regulations and have a client that requires a low environmental impact for a building, using INNO-THERM in the construction design phase can be a cost-effect way to decrease heating and cooing bills as well as having no ongoing maintenance and renewal costs.

No specialist handling equipment is required, such as gloves or protective clothing. However, eye protection is recommended when installing in a ceiling or in an under-floor application. If working in a confined space where conventional insulation has been installed, it is recommended that operatives wear a mask and eye protection. Inno-Therm/Mtisse is a semi-rigid flexible malleable material that can be torn or cut by hand or with a fine toothed saw or a wavy blade of the type used for bread - details of other tools to use can be found in our new insulation guide.

I just returned from our AGM held at the Sheffield Central Library. Matthew Tully presented his Generation Carbon Game which was well received by the 30 people attending. Many thanks to Matthew and Dan & Allison of the Library. Do contact me if you would like a copy of our Annual Report; which is a combined report with Schools & Homes Energy Education Project/ Solar-Active. David

I am just back from 2nd day at Future Build where I had a Waste Hut stand in the Waste Zone. Busy today with enquiries. Confirmed a 24 pallet order. When I get back to Sheffield will put on website the display I created. Interesting story to tell. When I arrived to my accommodation on evening of 4th found the room was not what I expected from the picture and it took 90minutes to travel over to and with a big heavy bag on rollers and another on my back. I was able to cancel the following two.
