A Finesse Conservatory can be a playroom, a workroom or a new space for entertaining, use it as an extension of your home, or your garden and add value and light to your property in the easiest way possible. Most people think of Conservatories in the standard greenhouse style but at Finesse we think of them as anything but standard. Our bespoke designs range from classical to modern and are available in a choice of materials, tailored perfectly to your home. A Finesse Conservatory is thermally efficient, environmentally friendly, fitted with safety glass as standard and installed with all the care and attention we are renowned for.

French doors are an elegant doorway solution providing a wider, unobstructed opening than a traditional door, and at Finesse, we construct and install them in a wide variety of materials and finishes. Be it hardwood, aluminium, solid oak, or pvc, outward or inward opening - we can help you select the perfect french door for your property. Our doors are designed to have a large open area which both doors open, with one master door which is the door that opens first. Typical openings for a french door are from 1100mm wide to 1800mm wide.

All our wooden windows are made by hand in our workshop in Kirkcaldy, Fife, which you are welcome to visit anytime. Whether you're looking for wooden casement, fully reversible, sash and case, inward opening windows or fixed panes - we're Scotland's experts and can produce windows to any specification. Once the windows are made and sanded down they are put into the spray booth and sprayed with 4 coats of either paint or wood stain. This gives the windows a very good look and the coating is maintenance free for 5 years, when it does come time to coat them, all they need is a slight rub down and one coat of our hand applied water based micro porous paint or stain.

Orangeries can be used as kitchen extensions, offices and much more. Alternatively you can opt to have them built free-standing and create your own peaceful retreat from the world. Orangeries are the most traditional of the glass buildings we offer and are typically designed in a classical style. Similar to a conservatory, an Orangery can be attached to your property or be a free-standing structure, like the one in our photos above. They combine all the benefits of an extra room with the experience of increased light and space created by the raised glass roof.

Because we hand-build timber doors, if you're looking for a traditional wooden front door (either painted, or stained), we can design it exactly to your specification, making it completely unique and individual to you. There are many glazing options available for all varieties of situations. When we visit a customer we advise on what glazing is required or optional: it may be anti glare, sound proofing or upgraded insulation levels.

Most have served their time well, but given their age and the technologies available when they were constructed - they may have become draughty, insecure or rotten. Typically, they'll have very thin glass, which doesn't do your central heating bills any favours at all. We specialise in providing and fitting traditional sash and case windows that look the same as the draughty old ones that are currently letting the cold in, but have all the benefits of modern technology. We use a special low profile double sealed unit so that when glazed, it's very hard to see if its double glazed or not.

Our casement, tilt & turn and sash & case windows can be supplied in maintenance-free PVC-U or a luxury hardwood made right here in our Fife workshop. Building regulations are a set of rules which exist in order to ensure building work meets certain standards and safety guidelines. In Scotland, they are set out in the Building (Scotland) Act 2003 and the Scottish Government is responsible for the relevant legislation and administration. At Finesse, we take care of all the planning and paperwork that comes along with building a house extension or loft conversion. Typically building regulations approval is attained by submitting plans to the local authority, where they will check for compliance, and either give the go-ahead, or point out any potential issues.

Lean To Conservatories are well-liked for many reasons. They provide you with extra space, soak in sunlight, and are a cost-effective way of expanding your living area. This type of conservatory is normally designed to fit under the fascia of a bungalow so that it does not need to be built into the roof of the customers house, meaning less time spent on construction, and a simpler process than a traditional house extension. The roof glazing can either be 35mm, or 24mm thick poly carbonate, or double sealed glass units, depending on your situation and how much light is going to be let in and the direction your house sits then both materials have there job to do and this would be advised when visiting the property.
