Timber sash windows add wonderful charm and character to period properties. But over the years, even if you've maintained your windows, problems can develop which can make life less comfortable. Whether you're suffering with draughts, rattles, rotten frames, worn sash cords or cracked glazing - or you're thinking about double glazed or new sash windows - we can help. At Ventrolla, we've been repairing, draught-proofing and replacing wooden sash and casement windows for over 35 years. We cover the whole of the UK - from London and the South to Scotland - transforming Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian buildings with our meticulous attention to detail.

Ventrolla was founded in 1983 by Robert Tunnicliffe who previously worked at Ford Motors developing specialised high performance gaskets and seals. The name 'Ventrolla' is a slightly warped portmanteau of 'Ventilation Control'. With over 35 years of industry experience we have honed our techniques and enhanced our offering to ensure we can fulfil every requirement you may have for your sash and casement windows, including perimeter sealing system and sash removal system that were and still are part of our core offering.

Different properties have endless variations in proportion - and Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian buildings have different characteristics - so it follows that no two wooden sash or casement windows are the same. Over the last 35-years, we've made a huge number of windows for period homes and commercial properties. We're also relished the opportunity to hand-make some very different replacement timber windows, including large-scale, miniature and unusually shaped. So, whether your wooden windows are typical of their era or individual 'one-offs' our bespoke window service is here to take care of your project.

Otherwise known as side hung windows, or 'windows that open like a door', timber case windows date back even further than sash windows to around the 16th century. Thanks to their strong lines and classic design style, they add authentic character to period homes. But if the sashes in your original casement windows are rotten, draughty or rattle, it's important to have them repaired or replaced by craftsmen with specialist expertise. And that's where Ventrolla come in. At Ventrolla, we have over 35 years' experience repairing, draught-proofing and replacing timber casement windows.

At Ventrolla, we have more than three decades of expertise in repairing and manufacturing wooden sash and casement windows - and our wide range of products and services reflect this. We also specialise in draught-proofing, double and single glazing and secondary glazing to upgrade the period windows in your home. Our selection of products is designed so we can offer you a service that's tailored to your window, your home and your renovation budget. We're proficient in repairing and replacing windows from Georgian-, Victorian- and Edwardian-era properties - and can advise you on listed building and conservation area renovation, too.

At Ventrolla, we know that sometimes double glazing is not the right solution for upgrading your timber sash or casement windows. It may be that you live in a listed building or your property is subject to the regulations of a conservation area. In these cases, secondary glazing is an ideal alternative and we have years of expertise crafting and installing it in homes from the Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian era. Secondary glazing is a fully independent internal window, fitted on the room side of an existing window.

Original doors in period properties can be ill-fitting due to building movement over the years. This can make them draughty, creating a home that's cold and uncomfortable. At Ventrolla, we have the expertise to renovate and draught-proof your period wooden door using our unique sealing system. Drawing on the same principles that we use on our timber sash windows, we can ensure that your original door retains its charm, while offering your home modern energy-efficiency performance. If your door cannot be repaired, you can also call on us to manufacture a new door in a style that complements your property.

Sash windows are an integral part of a period property - but single glazed sash windows can compromise a home's comfort levels. At Ventrolla, our double glazing solutions will help you keep the traditional charm of your wooden windows, while also benefiting from modern energy performance, sound insulation and security. We offer two double glazed options for sash windows. We can make slimline, double glazed sashes and install them into your existing sash box, and we can manufacture new hardwood double glazed sash windows.

From building owners and estate holdings to architects and housing developments. We bring a wealth of experience to ensure that every commercial project runs on schedule & to budget, leaving each property and always leaves every building looking resplendent, with energy efficieny that meets modern regulations. As well as being meticulous in the craft of wooden timber window repair, renovation, and manufacturing, Ventrolla is meticulous in the services brought to all the projects we work on. From the very start of the job, clients get the best from us including detailed surveys, support with tenders and highly detailed specifications.

If a building is either Grade I or II Listed, or falls within a conservation area, then exemptions apply. However, the window does still have to show an improvement in energy efficiency; providing the changes do not alter the character or appearance of the building. This means that our draught-proofing system, Ventrolla's Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS), is the ideal solution. As with Listed Buildings, we have a vast experience of working with all properties that have permitted development restrictions.

Repairing or replacing period windows as part of a listed building restoration project can be complex. Regulations and restrictions are in place, which you will be required to follow - but knowing what you can and can't do is not always clear. At Ventrolla, we've been working on listed buildings throughout our 35 years in the business, so we're perfectly placed to provide you with trusted advice, to guide you step-by-step through the process. When upgrading or refurbishing your windows, most councils and conservation officers would ask that you renovate your windows where possible, saving as much of the original window.

Ventrolla are the UK's market-leader in the renovation and upgrade of original timber windows. We're a company dedicated to quality, providing tailored services to customers throughout the UK. We work with owners of historic, listed and period properties helping them to repair, renovate or replace their timber windows.

It depends on how much work each window needs, but standard draught-proofing, without replacing rotten sills, glazing etc, costs approximately 300-500 per window. This is an estimate though, and we do offer a Free No-Obligation Survey And Quotation so we can come and see the windows and talk you through our service and the best options available to you. Our quotation gives you a full price breakdown, window by window.

Whether we're restoring or creating timber windows, our passion, expertise and heritage is at the heart of every renovation project. Over the last 35 years, we've used our knowledge to create a range of products and services, that offer solutions to many of the common problems faced by original timber sash and casement windows. Whether your windows are draughty or rattling, leaky, noisy or rotten, at Ventrolla, we can help. Our expert surveyor will talk through the issues with you, see what you want to achieve and provide a quote, tailored to the solutions that we recommend.

Original timber sash and casement windows play an important role in defining the character of a period home. That's why Ventrolla will always aim to repair windows, where we can. Our industry-leading techniques help to eliminate rattles, draughts, leaks and noise problems, giving your windows a new lease of life - and you a more comfortable and energy-efficient home. For over 35 years, Ventrolla have been helping property owners restore the charm of their sash windows, casement windows and timber doors.

Our joinery shop has seen heavy investment over the past few years in both machinery and skilled bench joiners. We manufacture all of our own windows using the finest hardwood timber and traditional carpentry methods, including 'through' or 'solid' glazing bars, which help to retain the window's authentic look and set them apart from imitators. Each sash window that leaves the joinery shop includes our draught-proofing system which seals the entire perimeter of the window and has been independently tested to withstand winds up 71mph.

At Ventrolla, our expertise in timber sash windows spans more than three decades. Whenever possible, we try to repair original windows. But sometimes, rotten frames or damaged sashes, for example, means that we are unable to renovate your windows. In this case, you can trust us to craft new sash or casement windows that will slot seamlessly into your property. Every new window is bespoke, and made by hand from hardwood in our dedicated joinery workshop. Whether you're looking to replace sash or casement windows, each one is made-tomeasure by our highly-skilled craftsmen - using your original window as inspiration.

Our success over the last 35 years is built on customer recommendations and a reputation for outstanding quality. All our work comes with a 5 year guarantee, and we also promise to treat you like we would want to be treated. We help our clients restore the beautiful period charm of their period windows. Our industry-leading repair and renovation techniques help to eliminate rattles, draughts, leaks and noise problems allowing you to retain the value and exquisite looks of your sash and casement windows.

If restoration or repair of your original timber windows is not an option, we can craft new sash windows for your property. We will use your original windows to inspire our design, so you can rest assured that your home will retain its authentic period styling. However, thanks to our innovative methods, it will feel wonderfully warm, too. Our team use a combination of the latest techniques and traditional joinery skills to produce period windows, tailored to your home. Manufactured in our dedicated UK workshop, we use a mixture of quality hardwood and special engineered softwood wood, like Accoya, to ensure your new windows are incredibly stable, resist rot and warping.
