Whatever the season, we're always thinking of lovely ideas to ensure you and your family have a great visit. Established in 1948, Gordale is one of the oldest garden centres in Britain. My parents, Harold and Joyce Nicholson, bought the property whilst working on a farm in Wiltshire. They arrived by motorbike and sidecar, along with their six ducks, while their cows followed by train before being walked from Hooton station to Gordale.

We stock a choice of cane and oak furniture of the highest quality, ideal for living rooms and conservatories, so why go elsewhere? Even though we were one of the first garden centres in Britain, our passion is still growing. Our impressive 4-acre outdoor plant area has over 10,000 different varieties cared for by professional horticulturalists. We have a well-stocked promotional plant area and everything else you could ever need for your garden - from pesticides and pots and planters to gorgeous garden furniture. You can also be sure that our friendly staff will be on hand to help with any questions you may have. After being highly commended by the Garden Centre Association for the past 6 years and being nominated as a Garden Centre of Excellence 2017, we are a true gardener's destination.

Our enthusiastic garden care experts, David and Mark, have over 50 years' experience and know-how between them. They can sort you out with products for every stage of your garden's life cycle - from rooting powder and seed, composts, plant and lawn feeds, sprays and other potions for warding off unwanted guests, to troughs and baskets, arches and obelisks. If you need to hold it up or pin it down, this department is equipped to deal with the nuts and bolts of gardening. We also have gardening attire in our clothing department, as well as comfy waterproof kneel pads - or how about a stool and a flask to enjoy a rest and a drink after a job well done?
Our 4-acre outdoor plant area in Wirral contains thousands of varieties, all lovingly cared for by our professional horticulturists - from roses and rhododendrons, to very special and unusual varieties. At Gordale, we never shirk our environmental responsibilities. We work hard to offset our carbon footprint and we've implemented some lovely green ideas. Take our new solar panels. We've had 400 of them fitted on our south-facing roof. They take power to four inverters, providing a significant amount of our electricity and saving environmental resources and pollution. Our waste paper, cardboard, plastics, wood and metal are all sorted and recycled, and we go out of our way to recycle our green waste too.

To be a member of the GCA we have an annual inspection and have been Highly Commended for the last eleven years and again in 2017 for our overall standards.
