Metwin are a leading distributor, manufacturer and installer of steel windows, doors and light steel fabrications in the UK, and a proud Crittall Specialist Partner approved to supply and install Crittall windows in the UK. Alongside the supply and fit of new windows, doors and interior screens, we specialise in the refurbishment of steel windows in listed buildings, properties that feature highly exacting architectural features, and commercial or private structures in conservation areas. Leaded lights are popular in very old properties and comprise of small panes of glass held together by lead canes.
Metwin are a UK leading distributor, manufacturer and installer of steel windows, doors and light steel fabrications. Founded in 1956, Metwin was initially established to overhaul, repair and replace existing steel windows in and around the London area. Today the family run business is one of the UK's leading distributors, manufacturers and installers of steel windows, doors, interior screens and light steel fabrications. As an approved Crittall Specialist Partner, we install Crittall products for residential and commercial projects throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
Our manufacturing started back in the 1950s with metal work/s, particularly for steel stairways and escape routes used on the sides of buildings. We then moved into the manufacture and refurbishment of steel windows and doors, and a strong relationship with Crittall developed. There are many processes involved in the majority of our work - these include fabricating, shot blasting, galvanising, polyester powder coating, finishing, installing and glazing. We are also the only Crittall parts specialist in the UK, supplying all Crittall parts old and new, and offer an identification service to make sure the correct parts are supplied.
Window restoration significantly increases the lifespan of steel windows and doors when planning regulations prevent the fitting of new installations. Where possible a modern weather seal can also be incorporated to improve draught-proofing and insulation. The key to restoring properties with a special historical or architectural interest is preserving the original look, character and integrity of the building so that it's history can be passed onto future generations. At Metwin, we are dedicated to ensuring that the original faade of a building is preserved through its steel windows and doors.
