In this instance the client wanted a contemporary planting schemeand was happy to use seasonality, this opened up the planting pot so to speak. With our design we maximized well-placed beds and planters. By using specimen trees and shrubs we highlighted the tiered lines in the architectural style. These also created focal points and cues. We also used subtle seasonal tones to highlight changing seasons. Also incorporated were productive vegetable areas wildflower meadow and orchard. Overall the client wanted a garden that helped the building sit within the existing context.
The client wanted an Italianate themed garden to match a recently completed build set on a breathtaking elevated coastal site with panoramic views of the sea designed by Des Ewing and constructed by Michael Galloway. We responded with a design that complimented the overall grandeur of the project. In the sheltered courtyard simple lines in the form of granite cobbled edge and paving. By adding box hedging to frame scaled mature topiary trees and shrubs the building began to shine, as the Italian inspired architecture got Italian inspired planting.
The client wanted a contemporary feeling garden to match their efforts on a recently completed interior refurbishment. The garden had problematic drainage, lack of storage space, and no evening sun. The client wanted to reclaim the garden as a useable space for all the family and two large family dogs. We responded with a design that was contemporary and at the same time respectful of the listed property. The overall feel was to be fresh and airy. With clean lines, subtle grey paving, brilliant white raised beds, and elevated plant enclosed seating area.
