There are 2 main types of heat pump available on the market. Ground source which is sometimes referred to as geothermal (which is incorrect), and air source. Ground source heat pumps extracts the energy that the ground has absorbed from the sun. This is done by pumping a glycol through pipe work that is buried outside at a depth of at least 1.5 metres. This is because at this depth the ground temperature is relatively stable with a temperature of about 8-12 degrees c. The deeper the excavation the less the ambient or seasonal temperature will affect the ground temperature and therefore the energy we can extract.
Whether you live in your own home, a rented city apartment or Housing Executive home you could join the 1000's of customers in Northern Ireland already enjoying the comfort and convenience of natural gas. With natural gas there's no need for water storage or fuel storage, which means you can gain extra space inside and out. You'll never run out of fuel. As it is piped underground directly to your home, there is no need to order it or store it. It's always there when it's needed. With the use of a combi boiler you can get instant hot water when you open the tap which means you are not heating unnecessary amounts of unwanted hot water and cutting out the need for legionella protection.
Like the best high-end fitting, underfloor heating is hidden away and out of view, doing away with the clutter of radiators. And, due to the even distribution of heat, it is a fairly efficient way to heat a room. Underfloor heating is a modern and high-spec feature - allowing you to enjoy the luxury of warm floors during cold winters. Because the heat emitted from an underfloor system is more evenly distributed than a single radiator, the system can use water at a lower temperature. So it's a more efficient way of heating your home.
