Underfloor heating's increasing popularity is a reflection of the need to conserve energy resources and a realisation that underfloor heating provides huge benefits in terms of the flexibility of spaces and its utilisation. The way underfloor heating works is to turn the whole floor into a heat emitter. This heat emitter is able to work at much lower temperatures than traditional radiator systems because the area of the emitter is much greater. The water in an underfloor heating system is typically in the range of 40-50oC while it may be as high as 85oC in a traditional radiator system.

Customers like this 'focus', not least because we are independent of any other constraints and operate directly as contractors. We are also able to offer our clients a single point of responsibility as we also offer a concrete floor/screeding service. We offer a complete service in underfloor heating from original specification, planning and drawings through to final surface finish.

A traditional joint and flooring system in which the timer floor joists provide the structural support for the flooring material and underfloor heating is provided by installing aluminium diffusion plates between the joists and above thermal insulators. In this situation we would generally recommend that the underfloor heating is installed using aluminium diffusion plates laid between battens, but there are some situations depending on the thermal resistivity of the flooring systems in which the underfloor heating could be laid in the supporting structure, either in the slab or the screed.
