If you have any electrical work carried out in your house that involves the addition or alteration of existing circuits, then make sure that the person carrying out the work inspects and tests the work and gives you a certificate to confirm this. This is because it is a requirement of the B.S. 7671, 17th edition IEE wiring regulations. Legislation requires that electrical installations are maintained in a safe condition and must be periodically inspected and tested. Periodic Inspection and Testing should be carried out at least every 10 years for a domestic property (or at change of occupancy) and every 5 years for a commercial property.
