We are a family-owned renewable energy company based in Horsham, West Sussex. We install and maintain solar PV, air source heat pumps and solar thermal systems in Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Hampshire. We carry out all our own installations and we never subcontract our work to third-party installers. Heat pumps take energy from the air or ground and transfer it into water circulating through your heating system. The running costs for a well designed and specified heat pump should be comparable to operating a natural gas boiler. The government's RHI scheme pays you several thousand pounds over seven years to offset the installation cost. Heat pumps operate most efficiently when paired with underfloor heating. Radiators need to be oversized or have forced ventilation. If you can't change your existing radiator system, you could have a high temperature heat pump or you could consider a hybrid system, which retains your existing boiler.

Since 2010 solar PV has become the preferred renewable technology to install, thanks to the government's Feed-In-Tariff (FIT) scheme, exceptional reliability and minimal cost-of-ownership. Although FIT payments have been reduced, it still makes sense if you can use all or most the electricity you generate, rather than export it back to the grid. The two products that can help you do that are immersion heater controllers such as the Solar iBoost, or battery charging systems such as the Tesla Powerwall.

If you already own a Solar Hot Water system, we offer servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance contracts. Our knowledge is based on many years' experience of servicing and repairing a wide variety of systems from many different suppliers. We can advise, maintain, repair and restore malfunctioning or broken solar systems. If your system has stopped working, we will provide an assessment and recommend modifications to design or setup when necessary. Sometimes we are asked to inspect systems that have been badly specified, poorly installed and usually not working.

Solar PV systems require very little maintenance, but we are here if things do go wrong. We suggest you have the system inspected every three years so that any signs of trouble can be detected early. Apart from electrical testing, we also check the panels using our thermal imaging camera. Sussex Solar offer the option of a monitoring and maintenance package in order to ensure their Solar PV system will perform to its optimum year after year. The cost of the package varies depending on the size and complexity of your Solar PV system.
