JBKS Architects was set up to focus on working with churches, to equip them for worship and mission in the 21st century. This involves building new churches, restoring and modernising old ones, and extending others. We have won two major awards. The most prestigious was the Art and Christianity Enquiry Award in 2007 for St Bede's, Basingstoke, a new 600 seat Catholic church. Since then, from our offices in rural Oxfordshire, we have completed beautiful projects within a wide radius, and churches have grown.
We have a large Victorian house that needed converting back from flats into a family home with space to run businesses from, which is not JBKS's average job. However, their expertise in lovingly moulding old buildings into useful modern spaces, and their general attention to detail and striving for excellence ensured a fantastic design that is slowly becoming a reality. We can now see what they saw in their heads when the view was anything but beautiful, and it is rather marvellous. I can't recommend JBKS highly enough.
Church of England provide some fantastic resources for Lent which include six reflections each week with a short passage from the bible, a brief exploration of the reading, and a prayer.
Around 8 million people in England are living in overcrowded, unaffordable or unsuitable housing, according to a recent report by the National Housing Federation. This number is likely to have risen as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Looking after your well-being and knowing how you can help yourself and others during times of difficulty has never been more important. Here are just a two ways you can thrive in ministry during 2021.
