If a timber gate is to be automated it needs to run true on every operation so high quality is a very important factor. Iroko is a very durable hardwood and is not as prone to warping or twisting. This is due to the high content of natural oils found within the wood which help to repel moisture and protect the timber against the elements.

Automation equipment can usually be installed to existing gates providing they are in good condition. On swing gates there are two types of systems available, underground and surface ‘arm' type drive units. Underground units are more discrete as they are hidden within the ground underneath the hinge stile of the gate. Surface arm drive units are more visible as they are usually positioned at mid height on the rear, secure side of the gates. If the gates need to be altered for automation, this is something we could also carry out for you, if necessary.

Our range of timber clad or composite clad security gates are constructed from a fabricated steel outer frame to provide the strength needed. The frame is then fully galvanised to prevent rusting and is then powder coated to provide a quality, durable finish. If timber infill is chosen we would usually install hardwood Iroko or cedar wood. The timber can be left to naturally weather and turn silvery-grey in colour or we can apply protective wood stain, in a colour of your choosing. Most residential gate systems are operated by means of remote control transmitters which will allow control of the security gates from a distance of approximately 30m - 50m away. GSM systems can be fitted which will enable the system to be operated by use of your mobile telephone, meaning the distance from which the system can be operated is unlimited. Proximity fob / card systems are usually installed to larger multi-user sites. These allow security gate systems to be operated by presenting a card or fob to a vandal resistant reader.

Our security gates are bespoke made to suit individual customer design requirements, each gate is then fully galvanised to prevent against rusting and then powder coated to provide a high quality durable finish. The correct size hinges are chosen for each application to suit the weight of the gates and the amount of use the security gates are likely to receive. If possible we prefer to hinge the gates from steel support posts.
