We work closely with our customers and suppliers to stay at the forefront of technology, the environment and competence. Protan is an international supplier of world-leading roofing systems and membranes. Our solutions ensure a simple building process and a roof which is ready to face the force of nature and future quality standards. Our single-ply roofing materials are environmental friendly, developed and produced in Norway pursuant to the highest quality standards. They are tested and approved by a number of civil engineering institutions throughout Europe and in Norway. Protan has been supplying roof coverings and membranes since 1972, and can document the long life of its products from many years of experience in the Scandinavian climate and extensive testing in its own and external laboratories.
The company- already one of Europe's top three producers of single ply PVC construction materials- has introduced new facilities to further enhance its on-site installation inspection regimes. Now, Protan provides a detailed report, plus support material and images, within minutes of completing an inspection. Further it does not limit the number of its inspections, but undertakes as many as each individual job requires, depending on its complexity, contractor expertise, and support required. With latest mobile technology we complete the report, and send it to our customer, as soon as the inspection is completed- we can even do it whilst we are still on site!
Swindon Borough Council is delivering quality care to its tenants, through to its maintenance of housing stock. The Authority's Newburgh House development, of 43 no extra care flats and a further 10 no extra care bungalows, was originally built in the 1960s, and needed re-roofing. The best value solution has been to use 1.5mm thick fleece-backed Protan EX-A adhered system, installed directly onto the existing concrete deck by contractor Williams Roofing. The Council wanted an adhered system in place of the original felt, to improve longevity, and minimise the noise and disruption that residents would be subjected to if a mechanically-fixed option had been employed.
Protan- one of Europe's biggest manufacturers of single ply membrane- is pointing out that refiurbishment and upgrading of conservatories and orangeries offers huge potential to flat roofers. Estimates suggest there are now over 3million conservatories in the UK, the majority of which were put up in the boom period up to 2006, and whose polycarbonate glazing is now failing. Then there are those glazed with polycarbonate where the owners are finding it too cold in winter, and too hot in summer, points out Protan Domestic Business Development Manager Martin Shave.
Protan is a company with a foothold in several industries and in numerous countries. Our principal market is construction and civil engineering. We help to build the country in the markets where we sell our products and deliver our services. We protect assets and we are proud of this. Individually and as groups, we face ethical and practical situations and dilemmas which put our integrity to the test. A rule of conduct in every decision we make, is that we should never doubt our integrity. We must make the correct choices and when we are in doubt, we should consult our colleagues and managers.
Building information modelling (BIM) is a process of creating three-dimensional intelligent constructions which provide architecture, engineering and construction professionals the information and tools to design, construct and manage buildings. Protan has a wide portfolio of roofing products which in turn can be used in systems of many different designs. The concept of BIM has existed since the 1970s, but only with recent technology and software has it become a strategic focus for the construction industry.
Protan provides solutions to a wide variety of industries - from storage warehouses, office buildings and residential properties to ventilation ducts in mines and tunnels all over the world.
