Here at MJ Cabinetmakers we believe the beauty of a piece of furniture first begins in the inspiration and design and is then followed through in the quality of the making. Matt Jardine and his team of Cabinet Makers aim to create furniture that is functional as well as beautiful. My love for wood began early in my childhood when I used to whittle sticks. I always dreamed of one day designing and making furniture. I left school at the age of sixteen, completed a joinery apprenticeship and then worked for a local Cabinetmaker. In April 2000, I took the first step to fulfilling my dream, and began working on my own when I established MJ Cabinetmakers. I now employ a team including full time makers, apprentices and finishers. We now work from a purpose built workshop and adjacent showroom at Braithwaite, near Keswick, which has a magnificent view of Skiddaw.
