Peter Alexander began his apprenticeship with Harry Price in Holywood in 1975. There he learned the key skills of antique furniture restoration; French polishing, cabinet making and light upholstery. In 1980 Peter moved to work with Gilbert Logan and Sons in Belfast where he developed his skills making fine, high quality reproduction furniture. Following his move to Locksley Furniture in Dunmurry in 1983, Peter trained in the application of lacquered finishes to contemporary furniture. In 1986 Peter established his own business in Bangor and now offers a complete furniture restoration/refurbishment service.
Peter has applied painted finishes to customer's specifications on new hand-built kitchens and has also been commissioned to paint existing kitchens in order to create an updated look more in line with current design trends.
Customers who wish to update their golden pine/Stag furniture etc may select a shade from the Farrow & Ball paint range - any colour can be matched and applied to refurbish existing pieces for a more contemporary feel. Alternatively, paint colours from customers' existing schemes can be scanned and replicated in order to obtain a unified appearance. Following training at an Annie Sloan masterclass, Peter is also skilled in applying finishes from her range of chalk paints.
