David Bartram Furniture was established in 1981 and is based in the UK at Heckingham, near Norwich, Norfolk. We have an extensive range of skills and experience in bespoke joinery, building interiors, and the design and manufacture of fine furniture. With over 100 years of combined experience, each skilled member of the team plays an important role in producing precise and beautifully finished pieces using both traditional and contemporary wood crafting techniques. Our in-house cabinet and joinery workshop is fully equipped to undertake any commission.

Detail in proportion, construction, fittings and materials is all very important to achieve a balanced piece. Attention to detail ensures that the work we produce will exist in harmony within your home. To achieve this we often mimic features from other areas of your home to blend the new with old. Visits to the workshop are welcomed while your piece is being constructed. David Bartram Furniture designs and makes each individual piece to your exact specification to produce pieces that will last for generations to come, making every piece special for you.

Our kitchens are always one-offs made to fit your space, your requirements, your life. Being cabinet makers we make kitchen cabinets to last rather than units. We have a full network of other trades to undertake the full installation of your kitchen. Models can be produced to give a complete 3D interpretation of your proposed kitchen. All our kitchens are hand-built to your specifications and the majority of our wood is sourced locally.

At David Bartram Furniture, we've worked closely with the National Trust and other heritage organisations for many years; sharing knowledge and giving advice and guidance in the conservation of wooden surfaces including floors, skirtings, doors, shutters and panelling. In addition to these services we also craft furniture to complement historic collections and can assist in hanging precious paintings and fragile tapestries.

Devising and building fitments for your home is about creating space which is not only beautiful but practical. We can take on all your associated building work as required. We are renowned for our problem solving skills and workmanship and and these come to the fore when designing well made and functional interiors. We can create or renew your floorboards, replace skirting, add panelling or create a sky-light.

At David Bartram Furniture we pride ourselves on making bespoke pieces of furniture from locally-sourced timber. Some trees are bought in the round and converted into boards to our specification to be used in years to come. By using quality wood and traditional craft methods, our pieces will last for generations to come. All the timber bought in is used - we use the wood to create a range of smaller items from lamps and mirrors to clocks. Shavings and offcuts are fed into our special heat system to warm the workshop during the winter.

As Regional Furniture Conservator for the National Trust (East of England), David has the trust of many individuals and organisations caring for historic buildings and their contents. The workshop also undertakes many domestic projects delivering the same high quality service, craftsmanship and care.

David Bartram is a very skilled and artistic furniture maker and restorer . His knowledge of antique furniture is extensive and the number of items he has worked on for me has enhanced their appearance and also increased their value. At all times his approach has been highly professional. I have been highly delighted

Designed and commissioned a desk. Excellent service from start to finish with a piece of wood I wouldn't have been able to get anywhere else.

I would highly recommend David as a very skilled furniture maker.
He designed some beautiful oak bookshelves, understanding exactly what I wanted. He works with the wood so cleverly to emphasise it’s natural features.
He also restored a lyre back chair - so skilfully that you would not know it had been restored!
