Better Furniture

A divan sits below your mattress, and is essentially a bed base. Certain divans come with storage for example 2 drawers, but now there are tonnes of options available to house tonnes of your stuff including the dreaded floordrobe. Divans also come in lots of sizes, we have 4ft6 divans which fit a double bed mattress and at Better Furniture our divans go all the way upto 6ft which is superking size. Some clever person had the ingenious idea of 2 smaller bed base drawers (those closer to the headboard), which allow a bedside table to sit neatly beside your bed without the need for a large drawer.

We opened our Norwich store in 2012 so 2021 will be our 9th year of selling sofas at our Barker Street home In Norwich. If you haven't been in for a while or haven't been in at all (Gasp - Why not?) then you'll really notice a change in the choice of sofas we have on offer. When it comes to sofas, we offer something a little bit different, we have just invested in a brand new Fama display where you can design a sofa or chair from 100's fabrics on a HUGE TV screen. Why not try a ROM luxury sofa where you can design within 10cm increments.

At Better Furniture we're shaking things up - With the aim to offer something a little different. We're not talking about non-commercial furniture or bedside tables with gold leaf unicorns (although that sounds kinda cool) as a family run stand alone we don't have a guide book to follow, no floor plan or merchandiser to ensure our price tickets sit at a 90 degree angle in the left corner of every piece of furniture in store. Our small but dedicated team are on hand with some amazing product knowledge & try to make your visit to our store feel special.

We have invested in a brand new bed display at our Norwich store during the 2nd lockdown in November 2020. We felt that our existing display was falling a little short of showcasing our luxurious Somnus beds and mattresses not to mention our lush Sealy beds. As an independent furniture store, we are always trying to do something a little different to our fellow bed and mattresses competitors. We wanted to add some privacy when trying a mattress which can sometimes be an uncomfortable experience.

If your home office is more like a spare bedroom which has a garden chair for a seat and a pasting table for a desk then you deserve better! As a budding entrepreneur the dining room table is a great 'make do' desk but is probably not a good long term option. At Better Furniture we have some cool and functional office furniture which may even be better than your real office. Some of our team remotely work from home and maintaining concentration seems to be the biggest hurdle they experience. Spending more time at the desk staring at the screen rather than chatting to colleagues around the water cooler seems to be a problem too.

If you haven't visited our Norwich store for a while you'll notice the huge choice of dining styles we now have on display. From funky industrial dining tables to traditional sets. Our aim as an independent is to be a little different and to always keep up with the latest furniture fashions. We are passionate about creating dining environments with the same ambience as your favourite restaurants, we have arranged and then rearranged countless chair, table and dining bench combinations to give our customers inventive dining set packages, where they can save a little extra by purchasing all items at the same time.

Better Furniture Norwich now offers a comprehensive bed display, showcasing the latest beds and mattresses from Harrison Spinks and Sealy. Our team have worked extremely hard during the 2nd UK lockdown and have completely transformed the rear of of Barker Street store into a beautiful and private place to try out a bed and mattress. Before initiating the project we thought that trying a mattress can be an uncomfortable experience, so with that in mind we came up with the idea to create individual pods, where you weren't overlooked.
