Went today for lunch with my mum, we've been quite a few times before but never have we ever seen it so busy. There was a queue outside the restaurant to get in & I have to say we did think about going somewhere else. We decided instead to join the queue which we then realised was due to them waiting to allocate tables once they were free. The queue went down quicker than we expected as did the queue to order food & I think it was less than half an hour from waiting to get in to actually being sat down eating our meal. I think situation was very well managed by the staff & the carvery as always was great & I'm sure we will be back again soon.
Right, first of all, you can tell the staff have worked very hard to create such a pristine Christmas area this year, plenty of space to move about and plenty of decorations to choose from BUT. it is not a patch on previous years. The glaring, fluorescent lights and 2nd rate music selection do not make it the magical, cosy or exciting experience like previous years. If it is to be downstairs in future years (definitely more wheelchair/ pushchair friendly and no queuing for the one tiny lift which is great), I would suggest draping the ceilings to dim down the harsh lighting and bring in an atmosphere, pay a little extra for a decent CD and at the very least get rid of the 2 horrid mannequins dressed as a maid and Bob Cratchett who appear absolutely fed up waiting for their dogs to go to the loo! Oh, and my little boy wanted to feed the fish today as like previous visits but I refuse to pay the 100% markup. 1?!?!?! Please don't be so greedy. The polar bears went down a storm as usual though and the singing reindeers are a great addition.
What a great magical experience it was to take the kids to see Santa. They loved it and so did we. Singing, making decorations and not forgetting the important magic Raindeer food. Awsome.! Brilliant how Brigg Garden Centre planned out the grotto to accommodate everybody. Can honestly say it was probably the best Santa's Grotto we have been to visit. It's was more than we expected and worth it. I would recommend going if you haven't. Not just the kids but the parents/ grandparents anybody could not but enjoy it. Big smiles all round. Merry Christmas.
