Thorngate Upholstery has been making high quality furniture for thirty years. The majority of business involves producing suites for retail customers and design consultants across the UK, and we also sell direct to the public. Our customers are discerning and generally looking for hand crafted furniture made to their own specifications. With satisfied customers coming back again and again, we get most of our business through recommendation. Thorngate's furniture is made in our workshop, with hardwood frames and fully sprung seating, ensuring that it will last for years.

Thorngate can offer a complete service for hand-made curtains to your exact requirements. Headings can be selected from our standard range or hand-sewn for the more luxurious look. We can supply tracks and poles together with a measuring and fitting service.

Thorngate Upholstery undertakes all kinds of re-upholstery and refurbishment work, modern and antique. Our highly qualified upholsterers, with more than 40 years experience, will bring life back to any piece of furniture. Our skills include deep buttoning on Chesterfields, leather seating, suits and headboards. We use traditional methods and techniques when working on antiques and older, classic items: horse hair and fibre, jute webbing, coil springs, staining, wax polishing and hand sewn seating.

All of our standard furniture styles can be modified to give an individual look. If you find something you like and it is not available in our range then show us your design and we will build it for you. Furniture can be sized to fit restricted areas and adapted to complement existing styles. Our upholsterers have undertaken many unusual requests over the years, from Start Trek chairs (as shown), cubes for the Virgin Lounge at Gatwick, and miniature furniture for children. No job is too big or small.
