I first started joinery and cabinetmaking work in the 1980's and within a few years the business had developed into property renovation as well. Later work included college teaching of design. Starting Newlands Technical was a chance to get back to my original work of designing and making one-off and small production run pieces, usually for private customers and small business customers. Most of the work I undertake is interior joinery and furniture, both built-in and freestanding. I work with hardwoods, usually home grown such as English oak, ash and beech, as well as Scandinavian softwood.
