A concrete screed finish is a thin layer of concrete mix applied to a floor in order to provide a finish with a specific purpose. It could be for decoration, waterproofing, wear and tear or to level out an uneven floor. A floor screed finish is usually applied at the end stages of a concrete floor project. There are a number of different types of floor screed which all have different purposes and properties. A concrete floor screed is designed to be used as the final stage of a concrete project.

Dry shake topping concrete or polished concrete floors are achieved when a powder coating is applied to the surface concrete after its been poured and before it has completely dried. It reacts with the concrete mix to create either an extra hard surface that can withstand greater impact and wear & tear than your typical concrete floor. Dry Shake Toppings can also offer other properties like colour and reflectivity. After Laying the concrete the dry shake is applied by either a handheld or a large mechanical spreader.

Concrete shuttering is used to keep the pour in place while it is in the process of drying. A barrier is built around an area to stop any concrete spreading to unwanted areas. Almost every concrete floor project requires some form of shuttering. When pouring concrete you must ensure that you have the area contained with some form of barrier. Without a solid barrier in place the concrete will spill over into areas it doesn't belong. Concrete Shuttering is the erection of a temporary or permanent barrier that holds the concrete in place whilst it is being poured and over the course of curing (drying).

Warehouse concrete flooring needs to be flat, smooth, durable surfaces with minimum joints & added reinforcements to control cracking. We value engineer a floor that meets your project needs & budget. More often than not warehouse concrete flooring requires a reinforced surface to safely manage the incredible weight and heavy traffic they endure on a daily basis. Reinforcement is installed either as traditional steel mesh and re-bar or AS steel/Polypropylene fibres. We can design these and provide an insurance backed warranty.

When installing ground floor concrete flooring we must consider how ground water may affect the concrete flooring. In every instance of installing a ground floor slab, we create a special mix of waterproof concrete which repels water by creating an impermeable solution. Without this protection, over a period of time ground floor slabs may become damaged or corroded by seeping groundwater. For every installation of a ground floor slab, we ensure the slab is made with a mix of waterproof concrete to avoid groundwater from seeping up.

The Skip Float Concreting finish is the most basic of finishes & is the starting point for all other finishes. It requires a highly experienced tradesman to run a skip float over the surface while wet to flatten & seal the concrete. Skip float concreting uses a special tool designed to flatten, compact and spread concrete manually. The skip float tool is effectively a blade attached to a long pole which is dragged across the concrete pour whilst its still wet in order to provide a final finish, or as a precursor to a power float finish for a higher level of flatness.

Laser Screed Concreting uses a laser-guided machine to achieve flatness tolerances of FM2. The Laser Screed Concreting method is often the quickest and cheapest way to achieve tight tolerance over large areas. Laser Screed Concreting is the latest and most innovative method for covering large areas with concrete to a high degree of flatness and levelness. Laser Screed Concrete floors offer the perfect solution where extra flat floors are a must. For example, within warehouses where a low degree of flatness could have disastrous consequences on high level racking.

Every concrete floor will crack as it cures and dries as water leaves the concrete and the volume shrinks. With good design and accurate saw cuts, we define where the crack in concrete flooring will be, and hide them under a neat sealed cut as opposed to letting them occur at random. Sawcuts are a feature of most ground floor slabs and are straight line cuts made by a diamond tipped blade to a depth of over 25% of the slab depth. These cuts are made by blades of between 5 and 10mm diameter. This joint is then sealed with the application of a thick liquid resin such as mastic.

Brush finish concrete or Trowel finish concrete floors are easy to spot as you'll immediately see the textured looking parallel lines scratched into the concrete surface. The concrete brush finish method creates extra grip for vehicles and pedestrians as well as aiding drainage of water. A Concrete Brush finish is predominantly applied on outdoor concreted areas which is expected to experience high footfall or the area is prone to getting wet. When applying a brush or trowel finish concrete to newly laid concrete flooring you need to act fast and catch the concrete whilst it's still wet enough to allow the brush to run over it, but dry enough not to ruin any levelling work already carried out.

From planning and preparation to the perfect finish, our skilled team of installers offer a variety of services to suit every project requirement. Floor screed finishing applies a thin layer of concrete to give a specific purpose finish. Waterproofing, insulating or to level an uneven floor. Shuttering is the erection of permanent or temporary barriers that hold concrete in place whilst it's being poured and in the process of drying.
