This is where dinners get lovingly prepared, early morning breakfasts rushed & copious amounts of thirst-quenching teas & coffees get consumed. Who doesn't ever go into the kitchen these days? Firstly, let's start with a few simple questions to help choose your perfect kitchen floor tile. A small kitchen will benefit from a slightly larger tile to help exaggerate the perspective to the eye. Laying a tile to suit the shape & layout of your floor can actually make an enormous difference to the visual feel & perspective by helping to deceive the eye into believing the room to be bigger than it is.
Where does anybody start in remodelling their bathroom & choosing tiles that really bring their room to life? It should be a really exciting adventure for you however we understand that many of you start off with a massive bolt of giddy enthusiasm only to see it soon become quashed & overwhelmed by the disparate volume of choice on offer out there. By the time you've been to your 5th tile showroom, you might find yourself starting to get befuddled beyond belief. You are in safe hands at Tiles Away.
Wall Tiles tend to be much lighter and thinner than floor tiles. The glazes used in the manufacturing process of a wall tile are intentionally different from the glazes used for floor tiles. Floor tiles are designed and manufactured to withstand firm forces from heavy and consistent foot traffic. The tiles away team know their stuff when it comes to tiles and why we are here to help. We have in-depth knowledge and a keen eye from years of experience and can advise you on what tile colour schemes and patterns works well where and what doesn't.
Answering this simple question will dictate whether you'll need anti-slip tiles or hardwearing porcelain tiles or whether you can get away with simple and beautiful ceramic tiles. Asking yourself these two questions will lead you well on the way to making a more informed choice by the time to visit our showroom. Taking time to think about how you want the whole look to feel will give you more confidence in the decision-making process. At Tiles Away we are here to help you choose the perfect tile.

One immediate question needs to be answered before we wander off into the more exciting realms of colours & style - is your porchway open to the elements or not? The answer to this question can save you so much time hunting for the perfect tile because not all tiles are able to withstand the harsher elements of our varied British climate.

More of us are maximising what little living space we have by creating adventurous social areas outdoors too. Whether you're after a BBQ area or somewhere for that luscious hot tub or jacuzzi, or maybe you just have a small courtyard or veranda.
When is a wetroom not a wetroom? When it's a shower room. Essentially the only difference is that a wetroom has no shower tray & allows for easy no-fuss access. Whilst we are only talking about choosing your perfect wetroom tile, it must be said that you need to pre-plan wisely & be sure of a few extra things. Creating the wetroom is probably best left to a professional as you will need the floor to be of the correct gradient allowing for water to run to a central point freely. Your room will also need to be tanked or waterproofed (we can help you with that).
It seems more & more of you are investing in a cosy warm hearth, multi-fuel log burner or fireplace. Whilst we might be a little envious of you lucky folk, we are always here to help you find beautiful tiles to suit your needs. The main factor which you will need to take into account here is obviously the heat generated by your chosen appliance. Each of these choices is more robust when it comes to heat fluctuation & are more likely to be heat resistant, withstanding higher heat levels than the likes of ceramic.
Before you start looking at tiles for your conservatory, start by asking yourself one simple question. A decision needs to be made for the uses of the conservatory either for indoors only or opening up the home and fully embracing your garden space. This can be achieved by running the tile outside too. If you are looking to extend outwards with the same tile we'd suggest you, at the very least, avoid a highly polished tile - one little bit of morning dew or a quick summer downpour could make things quite treacherous.
Our thanks to Tim for helping us choose our tiles and his expert advice and also to Trevor who expertly fitted the tiles and did a marvellous job!
Really helpful and full of great advice and prices are pretty good too! Nice to get the personal service from someone who knows what they are talking about!
Excellent customer service. Tim who owns Tiles Away provided the necessary time to listen to my individual requirements and advised of all additional products required. He also has a sister company of tile fitters which was hugely beneficial and we were delighted with the finished result. Would highly recommend.
