Robin Gibbs Architecture is a general Architectural practice, operating from offices located in Norwich, Norfolk. The practice is registered with the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists. Our aim is to produce architecture that is not only well designed, but also technically sound and which takes into account budget constraints. Robin Gibbs has in excess of forty years architectural experience and has been running his own practice since 1989. Prior to this he worked for several high profile Norwich architects, gaining a broad range of experience in residential, commercial, industrial and healthcare architecture.
Our clients wished to build a two storey extension to the front of their house on the east side of Norwich, together with some reorganisation of the existing accommodation. Following consultation with the planning officer, a design was prepared that reflected the general style of the existing front elevation, in particular reproducing the decorative brickwork to the front wall and the hipped roof detailing. The construction is traditional masonry cavity walls and the roof covering is plain tiles, all generally to match existing.
Our clients wished to extend their 1970's home to provide additional accommodation for their growing family. To achieve this, the adopted design incorporates traditional brick and block walls and tiled roof to the front elevation, detailed to match the existing. The rear of the extension is predominantly timber framed with western red cedar wall cladding and lead roof covering. Significant areas of glazing are incorporated into the design to produce bright and inviting internal spaces, giving views of the large well-landscaped gardens.
