Our RIIO-T2 Business Plan offers a practical road map toward a cleaner, greener and healthier Britain. Within our plan and the supporting annexes published, you can find out exactly how we'll facilitate Scotland and Britain's transition to Net Zero by 2045 and 2050 respectively. We are excited to share our investment proposals and strategies with you as we submit them to Ofgem. We've launched Zero Carbon Communities, an initiative to help and guide communities along the path to Net Zero. Zero Carbon Communities aims to develop a unique roadmap to help local communities understand the steps they have to take to manage the Net Zero transition successfully.
Heat Pumps (HPs) are classed as a low carbon technology and can help the UK meet its carbon emission ambition and soon will be able to support the management of the electricity network. As HPs and other low carbon technologies will cause a rise in the demand for electricity consumption on our networks, we are committed to investing the right amount in the right places to continue to provide you a secure electricity supply. We are also committed to providing expertise and guidance to empower individuals, businesses, local communities and the public sector to embrace a low carbon future.
If you're thinking of installing a new generator (such as solar panels, wind turbines) to the electricity network it will need to be connected to our network either through your existing supply or through a new electricity connection. We've detailed in our website lots of useful information and even a short video to explain a bit more about the process. There are three separate Distributed Generation Connection Guides, our flowchart will help you to determine to the most relevant guide for your requirements.
We plan to use the rising landform to the south west of the proposed extension to limit visibility of the site from the surrounding area, including nearby residential properties. Glenlee power station and the existing substation will limit visibility of the proposed extension from the wider Glenkens Valley. We plan to plant native shrubs and trees to the south and west of the proposed extension to soften the appearance of the perimeter of the site and help the development blend in to the surrounding landscape more effectively.
