Wightman Builders Ltd are a local building and construction firm having been established for over 14 years trading in and around Exeter and the East Devon area and have built up a reputation for quality service and the highest level of customer care at very competitive prices. We offer a wide range of services including: Extensions, garage conversions, barn conversions, conservatories & sun houses, alterations and refurbishments, kitchens, bathrooms, drives and patios. We work with private customers and liaise with architects to offer a wide range of planning, design and building services.

My name is Mark Wightman and I run Wightman Builders Limited, a small building company based in Southerton, Ottery St Mary (near Exeter) in East Devon and have lived and worked in this area for 25 years. Wightman Builders specialise in a wide range of building work including: general building work, extensions, alterations and renovations, extensions to cob buildings, patios, conservatories, block paving and garage conversions. Owning the company means I personally work on site, oversee and project manage the work being carried out.

Wightman Builders have installed bathrooms from 3,000 to 15,000 to cater for our varying customer needs. All plumbing work is carried out by our plumber and his team who we have been working with for the last 10 years. This relationship ensures we maintain a consistent high standard of workmanship throughout the whole project. Tiling is carried out by our selected local tiler who can also create beautiful wet rooms. Our customers choose their sanitary ware and tiles and we guide and advise throughout the project.

Wightman Builders have completed several barn conversions with the latest being in Southerton converting a long barn with two floors and an adjoining piggery. We converted the long barn into a bedroom en suite with oak stairs and glass balustrade leading into a games room. We converted the piggery into holiday accommodation with an open plan living area and kitchen, bedroom and en suite. All work was carried out under Building Regulations. Our team of experienced builders, tradesmen and contractors are reliable, trustworthy and the company is a member of the Federation of Master Builders.

Wightman Builders have worked on small alterations from taking a dining room wall down to create an open plan kitchen diner to more substantial size refurbishments. We have previously turned a single storey bungalow into a two storey house transforming the bungalow in a contemporary style house. We employ a local steel fabrication firm who cut and weld any steel to size and anything can be done to comply with structural calculations. We work hand in hand with the steel fabricators to ensure your project runs smoothly.

Wightman Builders are constructing an increasing number of conservatories. Conservatories do not need Building Regulations if they are under 30m2 floor area. We dig out the footings for a conservatory as we would under Building Regulations 1 metre deep, also wall construction and floors. Our team undertake this work and not subcontractors to ensure our insulation is up to Building Regulations standards. We have our own team of fitters who specialise in fitting conservatories, windows, UPVC fascias and guttering.

Wightman Builders have completed several garage conversions, which make an ideal study, bedroom, office, play room etc. The average cost is 10,000 - 15,000 and usually takes one to two weeks depending on work involved. We offer free Building Regulations for garage conversions. Our team of experienced builders, tradesmen and contractors are reliable, trustworthy and the company is a member of the Federation of Master Builders. We have also earnt the Trust Mark Government Award and are also members of the Devon County Council 'Buy with confidence' scheme so you can rest assured that our work is vetted and approved by Trading Standards who ensure we operate in a legal, honest and fair way.

Wightman Builders specialise in extensions and have been building extensions continuously for at least 12 years, within budgets ranging from 15,000 to 200,000. We know how to produce a first class job from digging foundations to skimming the walls through to fitting the kitchen. We handle all aspects of the project and understand what an upheaval building work can be to our customers. Our team take great care in making it as easy as we can to minimise disruption for you. Organisation is a priority which I Mark Wightman take responsibility for, to ensure everything runs smoothly and completes on time.

Wightman builders have a wide range of experience and have worked on a range of projects from small through to large developments. Wightman Builders have installed kitchens from a budget of 4,000 through to state of the art 16,000 dream kitchens. Our client usually purchases the kitchen from good a high quality supplier (such as Howdens Joinery) and we price to fit, including electrics and plumbing, tiling of floor and walls. Once the existing kitchen is ripped out we skim the walls and ceiling if down lights are required so everything looks smooth and like new. We employ an expert kitchen fitter along with an expert tiler to achieve the best possible quality and result.
