We are award winning architects skilled in both the conservation of historic buildings and their sensitive adaptation for modern use. Since 2001 we have built a national reputation for excellence from our modest York base. Visit our different pages to learn more about the work we do with churches, country houses, sites of industrial archaeology and some very unusual 20th century listed buildings.
Andrew Wiles is accredited as a conservation architect under the AABC scheme and leads an assessment team for new applicants. He has over 30 years experience and has won EASA's 'King of Prussia Gold Medal' for Church conservation twice. As well as general roofing and masonry work our broad folio finds us working with a wide range of specialist skills and techniques. These might include isothermal mounting stained glass, structural timber frame repairs, hot lime mortars, timber mill engineering, corrosion passivation, wrought iron forge work, bell frames, fire damage assessment and concrete repairs.
Employing Wiles and Maguire to deliver your design and construction project will be a stress free process as we will project manage each step keeping you fully informed throughout. As well as providing the traditional architect's duties as laid out in the RIBA plan of work we can offer the following supplementary tasks. Assembling and leading specialist consultant teams to evaluate complex repair issues and development of sustainable, cost-effective conservation strategies. Grant applications and fundraising advice.
#winner! our shortlisted projects for the Civic Trust Awards 2021 at Robin Hoods Cottage and Fillingham Castle have, been confirmed as 'highly commended' or have actually won. Final announcement is in March but as the chances are 2 in 6 I like those odds. Good start to the new year.
Merry Chirstmas everyone and what a year its been. a break has been well earned for all those contractors and consultants who battled on through. Here is a photo from December 2018, happier times, when we finished the relighting scheme at Rotherham Minster.

So pleased that the restoration of Robin Hood's Cottage at Kirklees Priory is a Regional Finalist in the 2021 Civic Trust awards for conservation. It was a long journey from scaffold propped ruin to finished glory.
