Thomas Robinson Architects was founded in 1999 by its directors Tom Robinson and Fiona Robinson. See People, for more information about Tom and Fiona and other key members of the team. Over the last 15 years we have honed our architectural skills, gained new ones such as Passivhaus accreditation and conservation accreditation. We have also learned the role of Executive Architect, but our core mission has always been to create sustainable, beautiful, effective buildings which enhance the lives of our clients.

For us the creation of a very low energy house using sustainable architecture principles was key to the brief, and we appreciated Thomas Robinson's refreshing outlook in exploring sustainable building materials and construction approaches.' In our Residential Architecture Services, we aim to help our clients realise their dream environment, whether at work, rest or play, in a new home, extending an old home, at the office or a place of worship. We work from outside Glasgow and offer an architectural service throughout Scotland.

Conservation Architecture at Thomas Robinson Architects is led by Tom Robinson, an RIAS Accredited Conservation Architect. We value the importance of forming a deep understanding of the history and cultural relevance of a particular building or place. When this has been achieved it informs our actions and proposals. We believe architectural heritage should be protected. Conserving a historic building can however mean intervening to enable its continued use or to create a new use. This may involve alterations or extensions, requiring absolute sensitivity and confidence.

Many of our Interior Architecture services are included in the overall architectural service for houses we're designing. If you're designing a new home or looking to refurbish a home, we can provide a full Interior Architecture service, to cover rearranging rooms, plus everything from creating arches, to designing cornicing, panelling, built-in cupboards, stair design, bannisters, bookcases, alcoves, down stand beams, and more. We have specialist knowledge of what styles suit what spaces, be they traditional or contemporary.

We aim to create stunning practical spaces for our clients within their budget and timescale. While understanding the complexities of commerical projects, we deliver creative, professional and efficient architectural services. We are a team of RIBA Chartered architects and interior designers based in Scotland, near Glasgow, creating a broad range of beautiful houses and extensions for individual residential clients. Our design skills cover both contemporary & sympathetic traditional buildings, including detailed Classical and Arts & Crafts styles. We are also specialists in interior architecture and interior design.

The Commercial Architectural Service involves taking a client's brief then designing and managing the process of the delivery of a building. It can be a new building, housing project, alterations, or conservation of an existing building. The Service can be divided into specialist areas from feasibility studies, planning permission submissions, building warrant submissions, construction drawing packages, tender documentation and contract administration. Partial services may be appropriate if a project is not proceeding from start to finish as a whole.
