We're a small firm of architects and surveyors with all the skills you need to make your project happen. From a simple back extension that will transform your house, to complex developments of social housing and community buildings, we can design and manage your project through to completion. Our starting point is consultation. What do you want out of your project? What's possible in practice? What can we do to produce a creative design that's environmentally sustainable and user-friendly? Then we work hard to make sure you get it on time and within budget.
We've been based in inner South East London since 1985, when John Knepler and Ian Taylor set up Survey & Design. We are an architect and a quantity surveyor who worked for a housing association, for a local authority and in private practice before setting up our own practice. We're involved in creating housing, health and employment opportunities for a diverse range of clients. John is now an accredited Conservation Architect. Contact us for a first meeting, free, to find out how we can help.
We're going out to tender on a refurbishment job in Camden, by informing builders they cannot visit the house (because it's occupied) but we are happy to send them detailed pics of relevant areas or details. If we are still in lock-down once they are ready to start on site, we are working out ways how to separate clients and builders. It will require flexibility on both sides, but will be possible.
Work on this historic farm building in the Bulgarian mountains (converting it into an artist's studio and summer house) is slowly progressing, without the possibility of making site visits.
Handed over In April, after complicated social-distanci ng snagging: a new bedroom/ bathroom/ sitting room side extension, suitable for a wheelchair user, in Camberwell.
