The school as founded in 1878 and moved into Woolveston Hall during 1992. Within the parkland is the single storey building that houses the Junior Department. Faber Roofing using Langley materials as specified by Stephen Greenhalgh, Surveyor for The Girl's Day School Trust replaced the failing roof in 2002. The flat roof to the main buildings and to the tank room were re-roofed using the "Bauder Total Roof System" which provides a 20 year warranty. Workmanship was to a very high standard consistent with the Company's long established reputation.
The existing clay plain tiles to the main roof of this historic building were stripped off and set aside for the installation of a High Performance Underfelt and new treated timber battens. The roof was then re-tiled using the best of the clay tiles made up with reclaimed tiles. The original ridge tiles were all replaced with new hand made clay ridge tiles in "Dark Chestnut". The natural slate roofs discharged into failing lead valleys. NPS Property Consultants decided to replace the lead with Polyroof 185 Glass Fibre System providing a solution with a life expectancy of at least 25 years.
Green Roofs, somewhat belatedly in the UK, are now being specified across a whole spectrum of new build projects. The recreational area provided by a roof garden not only transforms an out of bounds part of a building, but brings many benefits to the environment. Architect Gill Tewkesbury designed and built her new home specifying a green roof supplied by Euroroof, this Company together with Erisco Bauder having pioneered the green roof concept in the UK. Faber Roofing as specialist installers for both companies' systems has successfully completed private and commercial projects.
HIGH PERFORMANCE FELT: We are approved installers of various systems from leading manufacturers including Alumasc, Bauder, Icopal and Pluvitec. High Performance Felt Systems comprise of multi-layer bituminous membranes and can be used for both refurbishment and new build as a cold roof (non-insulated) or as a warm roof (insulated). Due to the versatility of the products we can tailor each system to suit individual requirements for performance and value. SINGLE PLY: We are approved installers of various Single Ply membranes from leading manufacturers including Alwitra, Bauder and Icopal.
