Review of plumber, Martin Coleman,
advertised on Facebook as "My Coventry Plumber".
Day 1, he arrived late and left early, despite spending half a day sourcing materials for our bathroom renovation and shower leak repairs, paid for with five hundred pounds of our cash. Over the next few days he showed considerable displeasure at being asked to provide receipts for these purchases, but eventually did so, to the tune of £430.
Day 2, he brought a sick child with him and was on site for approximately an hour, did little or no work.
Day 3 he messaged at 8.32am to say he would not be coming in that day.
Day 4 he spent in the bathroom, skimming the ceiling.
Day 5 (Monday) he said he had "things to do" and would try to get in (he didn't turn up) but would see us between 10am and 11am on Day 6.
Day 6, he re-skimmed the bathroom ceiling as "it had not worked" on Day 4.
Day 7 he spent four hours trying to drain the entire central heating system so that he could remove the bathroom radiator. On the evening of Day 7 he sent a message asking for immediate payment of £250 to cover the extra work needed on the bathroom ceiling and to "repair the central heating" system. I immediately replied saying that I would not pay for his incompetence regarding the bathroom ceiling and that the central heating had at no point needed repairing.
Day 8 he turned up, carried a few bags of mixed rubbish (he did not separate out for recycling: broken tiles, plastics, paper & card, McDonalds packaging, a banana skin and a plastic tub of mouldy sausage rolls as I discovered when I was at the Council Tip!) down to the garage, and when my wife and I were both briefly offsite, he collected his tools and left. He gave no warning that he was leaving and left our house and garage completely unguarded and unlocked. On our return, our searches showed that he had had taken with him some of the smaller materials for which we had paid, plus a materials receipt for £300.
A subsequent survey by an immaculately referenced plumber suggested that Mr Coleman, despite being paid 50% of the labour cost (and asking for more!), has completed no more than 25% of the job. He still owes us cash, materials and a £300 receipt.
Do not employ this man. I consider him completely untrustworthy, work-shy, and he'll try to make you pay way more than you should. I cannot comment on his plumbing 'skills' as he has not shown us any.

2 weeks later I found the mess in which Martin Coleman and his electrical subcontractor left our loft and it's insulation... absolutely disgusting.

Do NOT employ this man. He's walked away from our bathroom renovation job having done 25% of the work but taken 50% of the labour cost. Also, he's had £500 cash for materials but only given us receipts for £130. And he upped and left when we were offsite, leaving house and garage unlocked and unguarded. A thoroughly untrustworthy individual.

Martin Coleman is a dishonest person who cannot be trusted. He did some work for me about 6 years ago. He completely messed up my bathroom.. I took him to court and he had a county court judgement against him to pay me £2000.he didn't pay for a whole year with me having to chase him again and again. He has failed to make any significant payments. He uses some many excuses to blame other people and for not paying the money he owes. He has threatened me when I contact him for my money with saying he will contact my employer. He even called the police to say I was harassing him. The police dismissed the report. He still owes me £16000which he has no comittment to paying me. DODO NOT USE THIS MAN EVER HE IS MORAL DEFECTIBE AND HAS NO MORAL COMPASS. I FEEL I HAVE TO WARN PEOPLE DO NOT LET HIM LOOSE IN YOUR HOUSE

Needed an emergency plumber for a leaking toilet….rang Martin and after a couple of quick questions he knew what was needed…located the required part and arrived to fit within 30 minutes.
