With backgrounds in cabinetmaking and furniture design Simon Lewis and Gordon Hill founded Lewis & Hill furniture with the purpose of creating interiors of style and beauty which are both classic and timeless. From humble beginnings in a domestic garage, the buisness has grown up through 3 further workshop moves to it's current premises, a 6,000sq/ft manufacturing and showroom facility in Rearsby, Leicestershire. One of our earliest beliefs was that each project, client and commission is unique, and that we would always focus firmly on the individuals' needs to produce a design and product that is truly bespoke.
A clever solution to the age old problem of where to put all the coats and shoes. A Shaker style peg board takes care of the cloaks, with a sueful bench seat and shoe storage underneath. High level cabinets house those once a year hats, whilst whicker baskets provide further occasional storage.
Each piece of furniture is handmade in our workshops in Rearsby, in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside. We are proud to be part of the ongoing British tradition of quality bespoke craftmanship. We oversee every stage of the manufacturing process in house. Raw timber is delivered from our UK timber merchants and processed in our machine shop, from which the individual furniture components are crafted. Joinery and assemply is all carried out within our own cabinetmaking workshop, followed by final preparation for finishing.
A C18th barn provided the perfect opportunity for of an extensive renovation and remodelling project. The owners wanted to avoid making their new home too rustic, or traditional, and instead opted to juxtapose warm exposed timber trusses with contemporary European Oak cabinetry with white doors. A textured glass front to the angled island unit and glass staircase added to the contemporary feel. Lewis & Hill created a mezzanine study with plenty of built-in storage.
The warmth of American Black walnut was chosen the furniture in this contemporary bathroom, complimented by travertine floor tiles and classic white basins and sanitaryware. The wall hung basin cabinet provides useful storage with two large pull out drawers.
I can not recommend Lewis and Hill highly enough. Graham Hill was the person I dealt with concerning my kitchen. He listened to everything I said and gave great sound advice. We had many discussions over many visits, all part of the service. He even made a cardboard mock up which was so useful in terms of envisaging units and space, as well as CAD designs.
I actually think he was as delighted as myself when it was all fitted. The kitchen for me is the heart of the house and needed to be fundtional, comfortable with a wow!! factor, and with Graham’s help It turned out to be the perfect blend. Everybody involved in the project were such professionals and yet friendly and helpful. I have to say a special vote of thanks to the actual fitters. I am absolutely thrilled with the finished project. Thanks Guys!!!
