Bob, as you may have guessed from the company name, is Managing Director of R Froud. Starting his early working days as a derrickman on oil rigs, he took the random leap to become a French polisher for antiques.
The entrance to the workshop opens into the showroom where examples of my work can be seen along with a large selection of timber samples. Outside the workshop is a large area devoted to timber storage. Here are the trees that have been sawn into planks and are air drying. Under cover are further stocks of timber that have been air dried and are awaiting kilning. One of the services I offer is that of turning a client's tree into a piece of furniture. I have the facilities for collecting the butt, and with the use of a local sawmill, converting it into planks.

I design and make furniture at my workshop near Steyning in West Sussex. I gained a HND in cabinet making at Oxfordshire's prestigious Rycotewood College before progressing to graduating with a degree in furniture design and making from Edinburgh College of Art in 2001. I work with private and commercial clients. I am a committee member for the Young Craftsman Competition and in June 2017 I was invited to Judge the competition. This is a yearly competition at the South of England show in Ardingly, West Sussex.
