For the initial work several years ago, we were required to strip the slate floor back completely to the bare stone so that we could give it all a deep clean including to the grout lines. This involved removing a build up of old seal from over the years, which proved tricky when trying to remove it from all the undulations of the slate. After neutralising the floor, we were then able to apply our preferred seals and give the high gloss finish they were hoping for. The lovely colours of the slate look much more intensified after sealing and the floors also have a durable, protective coating to prevent stains etc from spillages, and re-soiling.
