Residential roofing encompasses services tailored to homes, focusing on roofs for living spaces like houses. If you're a homeowner seeking to restore, repair, or install a new roof, you'd turn to a residential roofing contractor, not a commercial one.
Due to their substantial scale, commercial buildings typically feature flat or gently sloped roofs, often unseen from ground level. These roofs vary in materials, selected based on factors such as building structure and environmental conditions, such as intense heat, extreme cold, or the necessity to withstand heavy foot traffic.
Slate roofing boasts remarkable durability, capable of remaining fully functional for decades. Its effectiveness in roof repairs and as a general roofing material is unparalleled. Opting for natural slate maintains the authentic period aesthetic of your home, particularly crucial for the countless original sandstone residences in Scotland's major cities. With slate tiles, you can rest assured knowing that the need for future roof replacement is greatly reduced. Any potential maintenance required down the line should ideally be minor, such as addressing storm damage.
A membrane, in roofing terms, refers to any sheet material employed to shield a flat or gently sloped roof, primarily to provide waterproofing. These materials are designed to facilitate the runoff of water, either through a slight incline or into a gutter system. While some flat roofs, like those on garden sheds, may allow water to freely drain off the edges, gutter systems prove advantageous in maintaining dry walls and foundations. In smaller roof setups, gutters often channel water either onto the ground or, ideally, into a designated soakaway for efficient drainage.
Gutter materials vary, including aluminum, steel, vinyl, or copper, each offering unique benefits and considerations regarding durability, cost, appearance, and maintenance. Selecting the right material depends on your personal preferences and financial constraints.
Ryan and Liam were extremely friendly and professional, provided a reasonable quote the same day. The job was finished quickly and efficiently with daily photo and video updates. Would highly recommend and will be using them in the future for another planned job. Rachel
Patient, friendly, amenable and eager to do a good job. Everything you want when at the mercy of the workman. Totally recommend.
With these storms over winter my roof was badly damaged. Slates had broken and slipped. Alot of rain getting in. My neighbour recommended Edinburgh Roofing Company. Friendly professional service. Will always use and recommend now.
Ryan and his colleague were very prompt in responding to an emergency call out in my tenement flat. Not only were they exceptionally quick to come out, but professional and friendly. They sorted the job there and then, even able to provide pictures to explain the problem clearly. Highly recommend!
Professional, reliable and incredibly helpful people. I will definitely get in touch again if needed. Service:Roof damage repair
We're just the tenants, but Ryan was concerned to keep us in the loop, raising queries for clarification in the absence of the landlord. No doubt the new flat roof is a good job, promptly completed, indeed arrived ahead of schedule, nesting bees rehomed, and all this done in hot weather! Can't comment on the price as I'm not paying and just needed a wee bit of tidying up at ground level after they left.
ERC did a great job replacing my old roof tiles and taking down two chimneys. This is the 2nd time I have used them after they did a great job replacing the roof of my garage the following year. Quality craftsmanship and done with no fuss. Services:Gutter repairs, Roof repair, Roof installation
I got a number of quotes and opinions of what work was needed on the roof. Ryan gave me a very honest appraisal and competitive quote. He and his men did all the various jobs to a high standard, and used a drone to show me all the completed work. Hopefully it won't be necessary, but I would certainly use Edinburgh Roofing Company again.
