Our first time at the garden centre and we went to the Santa experience. The elves in the first room were lovely and we liked the activities. A bit suprised the wonderland was basically soft toys on display. great they do a photo with Santa as my toddler and I went by ourselves this year. Also loved seeing the reindeer. Cafe in main garden centre looks nice but is awful. Apparently they stop serving hot food a 3ish (perhaps fine in the depths of January but the place was so busy for Christmas- perhaps you could reconsider?)and the coffees were undrinkable but expensive and lacked any kind of service. It seemed over staffed, especially with teens, no apparent leadership/ hospitality knowledge/ customers service. farm style food shop looks fab with a nice range of items and we had great cheery service at Lakeland section though. A real mixed bag. It could easily be so much better, the potential is there.
We visit Webb's every year for the ice skating & have breakfast after, we always have a lovely time. However this year i was very disappointed, ice skating was great as usual but the ice cafe was a terrible letdown. Firstly we had to queue for 15 mins as there was only 1 boy serving & making drinks. I then ordered 4 bacon rolls, 3 teas which came to 25! The boy then went into the kitchen to get the rolls, came back to add the measly bits of bacon left on the hot plate to the rolls to realise there wasn't enough. So then had to go back into the kitchen, where he returned to tell me there wasn't anymore bacon or sausage! Bearing in mind the cafe didn't open till 10 & it was only 10.45! A lot of disgruntled people were also in the queue behind me. Was offered a refund, but not a hint of an apology from anyone not even when he called a what I assume to be a higher member of staff to do the refund. Clearly the cafe have no idea what's going on & there is an extreme lack of communication between the kitchen & serving staff. How on earth can you run out when you've only been open for 45 minutes! So I had a very hungry grumpy family of 5! Which definitely ruined our family Xmas morning!
