Uncommon Projects can be found throughout London and all over the UK. From single kitchen installations to top-to-bottom house redevelopments, our designs always take the overall architecture and aesthetic of the property as their starting point, so whatever the layout and finish chosen, they always make the most of the space and feel like they belong. This kitchen features a large island with breakfast bar facing the dining table. A window seat with internal storage overlooks the garden. The style of the kitchen suits the client's collection of mid-century furniture and objects.

At Uncommon Projects, we have been designing, manufacturing and installing bespoke kitchens and furniture for a decade. Our founders, the architect Alan Drumm and the product designer James Hoy, set up our studio in London, in 2011, armed with a wealth of experience in interior architecture, design and manufacture, a mutual affection for the early modernist aesthetic, and a shared appreciation of the material possibilities of plywood. Our first products were in-frame doors for kitchen cabinets - challenging because dimensions and details have to be perfect every time.

Uncommon Projects really seemed to care about our kitchen project - in a side return to a Victorian terrace. They challenged us to think differently and consistently gave us excellent advice about everything from the units, worktops, and appliances to the floor tiles and the lighting. Communication with Alan and Liz was always friendly, easy and quick. They are meticulous in their attention to detail and the work is beautiful, and they always went the extra mile - when our electrician couldn't find a part for the strip lights, Liz sent a replacement by Uber and it arrived 20 min later.

At the request of the client we kept storage discreet and minimal in this bright bathroom. Rather than our trademark cut-out handles, the wall of deep drawers is accessed through linear handles, leaving the surface uninterrupted. Bespoke, detailed design resulting in a precise finish, no matter the.
