The TreeStation acts as a hub for a broad range of wood related activities in Manchester. It is led by strong ethics, and sustainability is embedded in the aims of the company. Our mission is to "make wood work"!Join in! There are many ways in which you can contribute to the TreeStation's success - from becoming a member or volunteering, to investing or establishing a project partnership. The Ecos team did what they said, when they said they would and cleared up neatly too. Great communication, good work.
Set up in 2008, Greater Manchester TreeStation was one of the first tree stations to be established in the UK, and the very first in the North West. We integrate complementary activities such as treework and biomass production, to provide a fit-for-purpose local infrastructure on a viable scale. As an urban tree station, it acts as a hub for a broad range of wood-related activities, such as woodland management operations, arboricultural work and consultancy. It also provides a local, unique and innovative green solution to wood waste for the Manchester area, and produces a range of quality wood products for the local market, including woodfuels, timber and related products.
We deliver professional services to our range of private, corporate and institutional customers throughout Greater Manchester and the North West. Our treework, woodland management, consultancy and subcontracting services used to be undertaken under our trading names of Ecos and Ecos Consulting. All of these, as well as arisings disposal and haulage are now provided directly by the TreeStation. All our areas of business share the same values, approach to health & safety, well-maintained equipment and our collective effort to deliver customer-focused and environmentally-sensitive services.
We provide consultancy, treework(tree surgery), woodland management and landscaping services to commercial customers throughout Greater Manchester and the North West. Our fully accredited, trained and experienced team - led by our Arboricultural Manager Paul Hodgson- delivers efficient, high standard and ethical services, and provides impartial advice. Paulis also our Principal Consultant, providing services such as tree safety surveys, tree surveys for planning applications ( BS 5837:2012 ), grant advice and application.
We carefully source, produce, and deliver our quality timber products, including sawn timber, whole tree trunks and sleepers. We can supply conventional and unusual species as well as standard or bespoke dimensions. Almost all of our timber is sourced from the Greater Manchester area from the local treework operations that we do! We want local people, businesses, hobbyists, craftsmen and craftswomen to use Manchester timber - we want to Make Wood Work and help Manchester reduce it's carbon footprint!
We carefully source, produce, and deliver our quality firewood logs and kindling, suitable for uses in wood stoves, boilers, open fires, chimeneas, and barbecues. We supply them either loose or netted in a variety of volumes, in individual bags or by the cubic metre, and conveniently deliver them straight to your home! If you want bespoke firewood, e.g. As an environmentally and socially responsible enterprise, we urge all our customers that live within a smoke control zone (most of urban Manchester) to only burn woodfuel in a Defra Approved Appliance.
We offer a comprehensive range of landscape services to our domestic and commercial clients throughout Greater Manchester and the North West. We can deliver an end-to-end 'design, build & maintain' service, or intervene at any individual stage. We can also make beautiful features from local and sustainable materials, such as fencing, decking, raised beds and chainsaw sculptures. Paul Hodgson, former Arboretum Team Leader at Kew Gardens, will work closely with you to ensure the final result meets your requirements.
We produce and supply consistently high grade products, exclusively made from virgin wood sourced locally and sustainably, most of which is from treework arisings and would otherwise likely not be used in an environmentally efficient manner - i.e. not used to its full potential, becoming a waste, or travelling long distances. I've been ordering logs and kindling from TreeStation for a few years now. The quality and price are good, as are the eco credentials, so I keep coming back. What makes a big difference though is the helpful and friendly customer service from Hannah and her team.
Whilst we regularly carry out specialist & sensitive operations, we also have the capability to undertake large pieces of work (see our Case studies). We work in close collaboration with main contractors to provide bespoke solutions adapted to individual sites or clients requirements. We are happy to provide all our services on a subcontract basis within Greater Manchester and the North West. This includes treework, woodland management & forestry, chipping, timber extraction, landscaping, and haulage.
The TreeStation is an ethically and environmentally-minded social entreprise, striving to deliver effective tree-related services and quality woodfuels and timber products, and to support the Greater Manchester local community. We want to develop the business to offer training opportunities to local people and act as a demonstration/education site of best practice. In order to achieve this, we need funding and support from individuals, local businesses and public bodies. There are volunteering opportunities both in practical tasks around the site and in areas such as design, marketing and working with our community engagement projects.
Greater Manchester TreeStation currently has vacancies in our Arboriculture department for Climber, Lead Climber and Team Leader positions. We are looking for self motivated, competent and qualified team members with high standards in tree work and health & safety. The right candidates will be environmentally conscious and have a passion for Arboriculture with a can do attitude. Proven experience in a similar leadership role is essential for the Team Leader position. These positions offer an exciting challenge and a chance for highly motivated team players to advance their careers within a stable working environment with a successful and growing Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor.
With over a decade experience of high quality, sensitive treework behind us, fully accredited and highly trained arboriculturists (tree surgeons) and unrivalled equipment and machinery resources, we can undertake the full range of operations required by our clients - from the smallest domestic pruning job to the largest woodland management contract or complex dismantling operation with restricted access. Pruning operations are commonly split into specific types of operation (see below). We treat each tree as a unique individual in its specific context - standardised pruning operations don't always meet the tree owner's needs nor benefit the tree or surrounding area.
We provide a comprehensive range of professional, high standard consultancy services in the North West. Our consultancy services are an integral part of the TreeStation, and are delivered in compliance with our values and to the highest environmental and safety standards. We work with our customers throughout the project, from quoting and surveying, to report writing and treework team managing. Our Principal Consultant Nick Torr can consult directly with our Arboricultural Manager, allowing for seamless transition from assessment to actual work on the ground, should you choose to hire the TreeStation for both.
We offer site clearance services, using our in-house equipment and arisings disposal facilities. All our site clearance equipment and services are also available on a subcontracting basis. I would like to say thank you very much to the TreeStationfor the tree/vegetation clearance on site prior to our construction works. Phil was very swift with his response to our quotation request, start times & supplied all the relevant documentation required to carry out the works on site.
