Working on small developments and completing alterations for house extensions are daily tasks for us at BGS Utilities. As such, we are widely experienced in this type of work and know the sector very well. We can provide advice on timescales and sequencing in order to avoid delays or hold ups on site, as well as complete the works at a competitive price point. We understand that smaller developments require flexibility both in timing and with the delivery itself, and we strive to offer this flexibility whenever we can.

At BGS Utilities we have been involved in a wide range of commercial developments, with some of our largest clients working in this area. We have experience of working on sites ranging from defence contractors through to schools and restaurants, in both rural areas and city centres. We appreciate that there are a wide range of demands within this diverse sector, and we have the expertise to satisfy them. We often find that close management of these projects is essential. For example, we often find that when working on retail property renovations there are times when an upgrade in service is required and the property has to continue trading in the meantime.

BGS Utilities have delivered several sites that require industrial loads, such as: factories; district heating systems; larger hospitals; and sports complexes. Industrial properties with large gas, water or electrical requirements often require specialist, experienced delivery. This type of project tends to be very complex, with several pitfalls along the way. These pitfalls not only have physical, but financial and time based implications as well. Conversely, with the right advice, cost and delivery time can be vastly reduced.

We are assessed and GIRS (Gas Industry Regulation Scheme) accredited by the Lloyds Register to install, project manage and connect gas services and mains. To compliment this, we have connection agreements with several network operators, such as National Grid, SGN, Northern Gas Networks and Wales and West to work on their gas networks. Being an independent Utility Infrastructure Provider (UIP), we have full control of the gas connection process, allowing us to be far more flexible with lead times and the delivery process.

As a specialist contractor installing underground infrastructure, we have had to become proficient in all aspects of groundworks. We excavate trenches and connection pits on a daily basis, and reinstate to HAUC specifications on completion. With all of the required equipment and knowledge to complete this type of work safely and quickly, we are available to provide this service to your site should you require it. We pride ourselves on working personally with our customers, not only will we listen to what you require, we will work with you to identify the best possible solution.

BGS Utilities can provide almost any service when it comes to utility works. We can be involved at any stage of a project, from feasibility through to installation and handover. Our project managers are experienced in managing schemes at each stage, and therefore can look after a project as a whole, or any individual service required. Lloyds accredited for gas and water service and mains installation, BGS Utilities can look after the vast majority of utility works directly, and have strictly vetted and trusted sub-contractors for anything else required.

Similarly to gas, we are assessed and accredited according to the WIRS (Water Industry Regulation Scheme) by the Lloyds Register. This means that on any site requiring water mains, we can act as a Self Lay Organisation (SLO) to offer a competitive quotation and apply our flexibility and knowledge to the development. All of our water operatives are also WIAPS certified, meaning that they can install water service pipes and self-certify them without the need for network operator inspection. Again, these qualifications allow us to increase our flexibility and deliver our services in a way that works with your timescales and site requirements.

We can complete the installation of electricity services, mains and substations as required, working closely with a number of providers to ensure that the best price and service is delivered. We will assess your site to find your exact requirements and cross reference these against the existing network infrastructure to find the most cost and time effective solution. We work closely and project manage a wide range of independent connection providers and network operators as well as providing our groundwork operatives to complete required excavations.
