House mice, and sometimes long-tailed field mice, seek out the warmth and shelter of buildings for nesting and finding food. You can usually tell when mice have paid you a visit because they'll leave dark coloured droppings or cause damage to food stores, packaging and woodwork. They are good climbers and can squeeze through tiny gaps. Mice reproduce extremely quickly; a pair may produce over 120 offspring in one year. Therefore, it's important to control the problem quickly if you discover your property has mice.

Cockroaches are commonly found in commercial buildings where food is being handled. They are also found in public buildings and homes, especially apartment blocks. They particularly like buildings with service ducts, plumbing and pipes. Cockroaches can be introduced to your building, either as adults or eggs, via laundry, raw materials, crates, packaging or they may enter via drains or rubbish chutes. One cockroach species prefers a warm, humid atmosphere, such as centrally-heated buildings, while another likes cooler, less humid spaces such as basements.

Bed bugs used to be associated with unhygienic conditions but this is no longer the case. They are becoming increasingly prevalent due to many more people travelling, and so unknowingly spreading bed bugs from country to country and from bed to bed. Bed bugs are notoriously difficult to eradicate and need to be treated quickly by a fully trained professional. We use insecticide spray and dust to eradicate them. We also offer a monitoring service using bed bug monitoring stations. All adjoining rooms must also be treated so we will need to spray the rooms above, below and either side too.

Fleas are small, around 2 mm long and wingless. They have a flattened shape and are reddish brown in colour with legs designed for jumping. Adult fleas live as parasites on warm-blooded animals such as humans, cats, birds and dogs. They feed on skin and feathers, and their bites can cause intense itching around a bright red spot. We recommend Steam cleaning, prior to treating carpets with insecticide spray. The pigeon is the most serious bird pest associated with human habitations. We carry out more bird control, associated with pigeons, than any other bird. They're approximately 31 to 34cm long and usually a blue-grey colour, with two black bars across the wing and a purple-green gloss on the neck and upper breast. However, there can be many variations in colour. Their natural diet is grains and seeds, but they've adapted well to city life and often rely on scraps left by the public. Pigeons can be a serious nuisance.

Grey squirrels are very intelligent and adapt easily to their environment and the food available. However, theyshouldn't be confused with Britain's native red squirrels which are becoming increasingly rare and are protected. To assess whether you have a squirrel problem, look out for where they may have entered your property, especially along fascia boards and eaves as they can chew holes there very quickly. A nest being raided is another sign of squirrels, as is damage to trees. Squirrels can cause lots of damage to your home or commercial buildings.
