Over lunch at the local steelworks some 35 years ago, Andrew Dabill and Christopher Lloyd discussed the mutual need for a change in direction. Having previously discussed a gap in the market for a service that provided good quality fencing, Andrew and Christopher found their new venture! Hillsborough Fencing was born and has gone from strength to strength since. Being family men, their sons later followed them into the business. Constantly evolving, and supplying to both private and commercial contracts, Hillsborough Fencing needed to move to a new purpose-built premises on Livesey Street, Sheffield.
The gates are made using a 100mm x 50mm framework, with the rear braces made of 100mm x 38mm kiln dried 5th Redwood. These are half morticed and fitted together using external glue and pins. The frame is then re-bated and a tongue and groove inlay is fitted. The tongue and groove matchboard is a nominal 125mm x 19mm (actual 120mm x 16mm) and again is kiln dried 5th Redwood. The gates can be made to fit existing gaps, or to templates/drawings provided if required. Each leaf is can be re-bated so that either leaf can be opened in, or out, first.
