Wind & Sun

Storage batteries are the heart of all off-grid wind/PV or inverter electrical systems and are used in grid-connected systems to improve self-consumption or provide back-up power.

Wind & Sun are certified to the ISO 14001 standard for Environmental Assurance for "Renewable energy distribution and installation". We produce our own power using several grid connected photovoltaic arrays located at both sites and a 2.5kW wind turbine (at Humber Marsh) these generate the equivalent of at least the annual electrical requirements of both sites. Wind & Sun Ltd. try to lessen the amount of waste going to landfill, protect the environment and act in a responsible manner so as not to waste resources that could be utilised.

Before we relocated to our new premises at Upper Hill fo many years Wind & Sun's Headquarters had been based at Humber Marsh, a 13 acre private wetland nature reserve which we own and manage. Unfortunately, the reserve is not open to the general public, but can be visited by special arrangement. These incorporate office areas, a mechanical workshop, warehousing, electronics service workshop, showroom area and two classrooms for training and visitor reception. The main building itself has been constructed using green building techniques.

It was great to hear that the industry is recovering from the doldrums earlier this year with many customers having growing order books and needing to secure supply. This year, we set up a 'mini-grid' to power equipment on the main Croissant Neuf stage, a Bandstand stage, area festoon lighting, a caf's lights and refrigeration and battery charging for phones etc. This year, in addition to powering equipment on the main Croissant Neuf stage, power was provided around the Croissant Neuf field for a Bandstand stage, area festoon lighting, a caf's lights and refrigeration and battery charging for phones etc.
