Heliconia Furniture

I helped Irainian Artist, Setareh Aminelahi to realise her complex vision. This set of three intricate functional sculptures are as detailed and complex physically as they are poetically and were a real challenge. I am a designer and maker of bespoke wooden furniture, using everything from traditional woodworking skills to contemporary technology to create modern heritage pieces. Involving the client in the design process from the outset, I encourage a sense of co-operation and mutual creativity that is beyond the usual shopping experience.

These lovely walnut cabinets were installed in the second bedroom of a house in North London. The client requested the specific burr for the doors, the book-matched leaves suggesting a nautical theme with spindle fish and jellyfish. The project also included twin chest of drawers for the master bedroom and hallway console and mirror. The client required complimentary pieces for either end of his lounge diner. The low handsome coffee table settled nicely in the cosy living area and the grand circular dining table is now the centre piece of the light dining end of the room.
